• Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my SUV" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your leather interior, please post in the Interior section - and so on... Hey gang - figured I'd start my own thread with my issues as a spin-off of the current Vibration thread that is getting a bit cumbersome to follow.

For starters here are some high-level notes to those new to this issue (in no particular order):
  • There are some users that are having Vibration issues on their 2021 Tellurides - so far they are all SX Trim - AWDs
  • Hyundai Palisade did drop a TSB on this for their 2020 models and we suspect the same issue here (Driveshaft, AWD Coupler)
  • In my experience Kia and the dealers are playing hardball with this issue given the high cost - they road force balanced by wheels and sent me home saying it's fixed - actually made it worse
  • Now the aggressive rattling noises I'm having are new - I suspect that the vibration is starting to interfere/mess up other parts of the vehicle.
  • If you notice on the audio clip there is a "harmonic" thud noise evident throughout - that right there is the answer to where the noise is coming from. Any mechanics out there that can whisper to cars please feel free to jump in.
  • WTF noise happened at 1:33 and 2:01? I seriously think something secondary is about malfunction from Kia's lack of handling the original vibration issue.
I'm going back to the dealership this Weds, 12/23...hoping they get their acts together. Also sending this audio clip to the dealership, Kia Consumer...and twitter...

Yeah those WTF noises are worrisome. I really hope you get somewhere with this issue because you can clearly hear an issue.

That’s a lot of rattling if it isn’t the dome light or something else loose inside the cabin.

Right. It proves that the vibration legitimately cannot just be "light". It's seriously bad as hell.

@JerseySXP, I'm sorry to hear that you have to deal with this issue. I have no idea about the higher rattling sound (which sounds annoying but fixable once the source can be found and re-secured) but what sounds even more troubling in my opinion, between :50 and 1:02 the lower sounding thudding noise at a constant rate reminds me of a misaligned outdoors ceiling fan I had where a blade kept striking the housing for the rotor until the speed increased. Sounds like some rotating part is striking something. If it's not regular cracks on the roadway or tires-related, or an axle, I'm at a loss to what else could be causing that thudding sound. Were you going at a constant speed?

Hey buddy - not using cruise control but I was in that window of 55mph - 70mph that entire time.

That was a smooth paved road so those weren't perfectly timed bumps or strips in the roadway - those are legit harmonic thuds. The thing is you can't hear those thuds in the front drivers seat which the GM didn't pick up on.

The thuds are coming from the floor or underbody of the vehicle. It boggles my mind that the dealership sent me back home after road force balancing my wheels...

Does anyone know if Kia UVO can legit track/GPS your vehicle? I'm dropping the Telluride off tomorrow and I really want to see where the SM is test driving the vehicle. Local vs highway / speeds he gets up too, etc.

I remember seeing a post on someone tracking their vehicle via UVO as it was shipped across country and they stated that you could only do point in time lookups on the location of the vehicle. You could not track the full trip.

Edit: The one difference though is that a vehicle being shipped is not being driven. I don't think that would make a difference, but I suppose it could.

Thanks @bags - that will be tough then because I can't sit there tracking it all day, everyday while it's at the dealer - ha!

@JerseySXP - thanks for taking the time to record the clip - i think that makes this issue so much clearer for everyone, whether they're experiencing it or not. honestly, that sounds terrible, and i can't even begin to imagine your frustration dealing with what should have been an exciting new vehicle!

that audio clip is also useful for those curious if they're experiencing the same thing or not - great documentation, and let's hope kia does the right thing... even if they should have done it months ago ☹️

Thanks man.

Again the audio clip was taken from the 2nd row captains chair.

Good luck to all. I take mine in tomorrow...let's hope for the best.

Didn't think I was going to turn on "big brother" UVO but I might do it while the Telly is at the dealer to see where they "test drive it"

Wow, guess that other post I read was wrong if this is all possible!

If you do enable UVO, it only tells you point A and point B. It will not show you path travelled.

You would only be able to see current location if you actively refresh on the app/website. It won’t show you all locations the car has previously been unless it was a start or stop destination.

UVO shows you the attached, gives you a pretty good idea of where your car travelled

Can I ask where these show up in your Kia Access app? I can't seem to find this functionality.
Just past the remote start/lock buttons for iOS app.

Interesting. Took a drive today after turning everything on and it's not coming up. Will see tomorrow.
Assuming you see the summary level details of your trip, make sure you click in the middle of the trip such as where it says the duration and not the small drop down arrow on the right. The drop down on the right only displays alerts from the trip and not the map shown in the screenshots above.

Hope you guys and gals are ready for this...

Went to the dealership - they had an "engineer" from Hyundai Mobis waiting for me there. Jumped in the front passengers seat, SM in the back - went for a ride...the rattling noise didn't occur which leads me to believe the extra weight of the people squashed that.

Here are some notes - in no particular order:
  • Hyundai engineer basically said this is normal for Kia's and Hyundais - doesn't agree or notice any Vibration
  • I asked if he listened to my sound clip to which he said No. Interesting...
  • We get back and I test drive a SX-P / Nightfall Edition - 23 miles - and it's vibrating like that as well - that went to this engineer's benefit because he's saying look it's the ride quality on these SUVs
  • I stated we didn't compare apples to apples as that vehicle could need a wheel balance/was sitting with Cold Tires, etc. etc. - he didn't buy it.
  • SM and Hyundai Engineer - walk away from me and conference call the DSM - I was not a party to this conversation as they walked away from me...assume done purposely.
  • They walk back and state that they will not remove the Driveshaft, inspect it, or diagnose it - sent me home saying the inspection is done, there is nothing wrong with the vehicle.
  • Called Kia Consumer Affairs - she left a VM for the SM and was awaiting a call back...she said that she is shocked that this SM didn't setup a Kia Tech Line ticket with my issue as she couldn't find it...She assumed that the SM and DSM (district SM - who work for the dealers not Kia) have concluded that there is no vibration - also this Hyundai Mobis guy...again NOT Kia Tech line.
  • I asked the Hyundai engineer why he didn't have a Picoscope and he said the dealer never asked him to bring it...
  • Kia Consumer Affairs said she is going to ASK the SM to remove, inspect, diagnose the Driveshaft but she cannot force them to do so...
  • I told her to send me the Buy Back paperwork immediately as I'm done...
There you have it folks - take what you may of this but if you EVER have a serious defect with your Telluride they will fight you big time on it. My case is interesting as the Dealer SM, and DSM are playing games and not really keeping Kia Tech Line in the loop...

Darn! The start of this sounded so hopeful with them having an engineer waiting to meet up. Now it sounds like your job of convincing Kia just became much more difficult should you choose to continue to do so since you weren't able to duplicate the vibration with them along for the ride. Sorry to see the outcome!
