• Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my SUV" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your leather interior, please post in the Interior section - and so on... My wife was in town babysitting the Grand Daughter and it was past time for her to be back so I used the Kia Access app to "find my car." It was still showing that she was parked at my son's house in town. The "find my car" did not find my car. A little while later she drove into the driveway. However, I never got the normal geo fence alert on my iPhone that I usually get when the car is within a couple miles of home.
Plus - I just tried to send the car an Unlock door command as a test and that failed also. Seems UVO link isn't working at all. I have a good internet/ wifi signal and everything else on my iPhone is working.

Any ideas?

Find my car relies on GPS. If your wife was parked under a covered garage, it could affect GPS reception. Usually the My Trips tracker will keep the last known location of the car up to date though. Say her last known location was right before pulling into a garage, it should update to that last location.

In terms of the lock command, even if your smartphone has great wifi or cell data signal, the car must also have good cell data signal to receive the command. So if she was driving in an area with poor cellular reception, that could be the reason it was not working.

In terms of the geofence, if it has worked for you in the past reliably, then maybe there was indeed a disruption in service for KIa Access or UVO Link. Unless she was traveling a different route on the way home that particular day that lacked good GPS/cellular service.

UPDATE: It must have been a temporary disruption in the UVO service. She was parked in the same uncovered spot she always parks in. I tried refreshing "find my car" on the app several times as she was driving home and it would not update. When she pulled into the driveway, after she'd gotten out, I tried sending a start command but it failed. Also, as I mentioned, I got no notification when she violated the geo fence. However, about 30 minutes later, I got the geo fence notification and the "find my car" was working again.

Technology is great until it stops working

I’ve noticed recently that when I access UVO on my phone that the vehicle information isn’t current. It shows the information from some time in the past. I opened the app today and it showed me the vehicle status from yesterday. I would of thought this information would update automatically from time to time. I use the app on my phone and background refresh is on for the app. I might not have ever noticed this before and maybe it’s just coming to my attention now. I have to manually refresh the vehicle status to see it’s current condition. Not a big deal just wondering if anyone else has noticed this

My UVO one free year ran out at the beginning of January 2021. I renewed at the end of January 2021 for the $149 per year to get the remote start function. I noticed the same thing and when I called UVO customer service they stated the update in real time is only with the top $199 per year UVO Package as doesn't come with the one step down package. UVO rep said you have to update status of car on app for it to give you the current status reading for the car as doesn't happen automatically. If you park your car and leave doors unlocked, the app will give you a notification text and email that you left the doors unlocked and you can lock them from the app but doesn't update automatically on the status of vehicle in app unless you have the top UVO subscription package.

I have the free top tier package and it’s still not updating. This isn’t a deal breaker for me just wondering if anyone else is seeing the same results.

You are right. I am also on free Ultimate subscription tier and it is also not refreshing the current status of the car without manually tapping refresh.

It used to refresh the status in the app on every login. For iOS it was recently updated to v4.3 a week ago. Maybe the new update killed the status refresh on login.

Didn’t think of that 👍

So today I tried to check where's my car to see where my wife was on her trip home from town. Got a pop up that says "we are experiencing difficulties with our systems and will be back on line soon...." Ok, fair enough, but now my wife is driving into town to babysit the granddaughter and I'm getting "Geo Fence Alerts" every few seconds on my iPhone. It's driving me crazy!

Anyone else seeing this problem or Kia Access not working today?

Is anyone else experiencing Kia Access not working today, 13 Feb? Whats going on?

Well, here it is 1:10AM (mountain time) and my Kia Access App is still giving me the error "We are experiencing difficulties with our systems and we'll be back online soon, we regret the inconvenienced caused."

Me thinks this ain't scheduled maintenance...their having some major server issues. Wonder if we will even find out exactly what the issue is?
