2022 Kia Telluride! What to expect.

I just recently ordered mine....wondering if I might get a 2022
You never know, depending on your wait time expected. Summer kind of seems to be previous release time so all depends on when they switch over the factory. For sure you’ll get a call if make the new 2022 list and might have to pay the price increase if any but will also get the new model year.

More torque and hp? I seriously doubt that

I'll pay extra for the 22

While at my dealership today, a lady called to order a 22. I was surprised they were taking orders for the 22's.

There is no reason to hold back production. Take it from a former Detroit auto guy, every automaker wants to build as many vehicles as they can. The markups due to demand is at the dealer level. Dealers are all franchised, so those markups don't go back to the automaker. The problem is always production capacity. Capacity is always constrained by raw materials, sub contractor product availability, lead time for more production machinery to add more lines (which almost always requires a new facility, and manpower (both in volume and number of shifts).

Any news on the full digital gauge cluster and new kia emblem on the 2022 models? Those are the main two updates i am hoping for. Patiently waiting.

I hope they don't replace the analog gauges with a screen. That's one of the things I liked about the Telluride vs the Palisade.

It's so ridiculous how Kia is holding the telluride from being produced. Which keeps the demand high. I understand a month wait for a new vehicle but some people on here are saying 8 months they've been waiting! That's crazy; and you might as well just wait 1yr and get the next one by that point.

What would you like to see on the new ones? Here's what I'd like to see:

1. Dual side twin pipes
2. More GOT dang horsepower and torque! Better throttle response.
-at least for the SX model. 365hp would do just right :)
3. 1in more legroom in 3rd row seating, 2nd row seats that fold up as well so you have better access to 3rd row.
4. REAL AWD system
5. Bigger/better Infotainment
6. Headlights that turn with direction of steering wheel
7. LARGER glove compartment
8. Clearmotion Suspension
9. Ceramic Brakes
10. 20+ speaker Harman Kardon System with Better Subwoofer (Cadillac has 36 speaker system!)

I do realize these features may increase price--which may make the "reasonable" addendums justified.

otherwise

For heavens sake QUIT MARKING THEM UP! The manufacturer says MSPR then that's the MAX I'm paying. $10k-$15k markup is outrageous folks. Stop paying it.

Let's talk about it!
To keep the Telluride below luxury level money unfortunately most of your points I feel will not work in this price range. Yes they would be nice but it's not a BMW X7 M50i. Unless Kia will offer a higher sporty trim above the SX-P to slot below the Genesis GV80 more (significant) horsepower will not happen. They could possible bump up the torque though for more throttle response. Without the big power upgrade what's the point of the quad tips? it would be advertising false power the Telluride right now is a Grand Cruiser type vehicle not a luxury sports vehicle! I agree the auto turning headlights should be included in the higher trims at least. Ceramic brakes cost a boat load of money and would add a big jump to the MSRP. I would like to see a more "real awd system" something like Acura offers in the MDX with real torque vectoring and active dampeners but again it will pad the bottom line and put this vehicle out of reach of potential customers. The Telluride certainly would be a more formidable machine, accelerate quicker, handle better and look even more bad ass but would cost at least $75,000 :)

Just ordered mine yesterday from a very popular NC dealer. I was told to expect a 5 month wait.

An article on IndigoCars said the 2022's price would be jacked up another $1500 across the board. If thats the case, and my car takes 5 months to build, that would mean I would have to pay the upcharge. I probably won't do so, so a Telly SX might become available.

It will be interesting to see how they handle the 2022 rebadge on the Telluride. The current tailgate of the Telluride is molded/designed for the older, oval badge to slot ninth place. The new badge is more of a stick-on, flat piece. I’m guessing that they will use an entire new body panel for the 2022 tailgate to accommodate the new logo.

They will also obviously need to re-tool the grill piece but that would be a lot easier.

Good observation. Ya I’m curious to see that as well. My guess is they will keep the oval design emblem and just change the script, kind of like the source below. Guess we will find out soon enough.

If a digital pad is likely, then a new logo is not. The concept and idea of the brand is the emblem on the hood, which means they need to change the design and body parts. The new emblem will be on facelift.

In the grand scheme of things; $1500 is nothing at this price point. Most people feel that if there is a change in price that the entire vehicle should be redesigned. That’s not going to happen. Kia knows that have a grand slam with this vehicle and making major changes would require a higher charge than $1500. If it ain’t broke; don’t fix it. At some point the vehicle will take on some design changes but not at the 3rd model year

Yeah, I doubt any significant changes are coming for 2022. 2023 is more likely. Although, honestly Kia probably doesn’t have to rush... the new Highlander’s a dud, the new MDX is a dud (although they did a nice job with the digital dash, replacing that old blocky dated Honda font with one that’s cleaner and much more modern), and the 2023 Pilot is likely to be a dud.

As far as the price increase, it’s likely to be solid, but $1,500 may be pushing it (although the vehicle’s easily worth that and more). I’m think maybe $1,000 across the line.

Hope that is worth the $1500 upcharge
All rumors at this point. My dealer predicts less than 1K, I do too, and who knows until 2022 actually comes out. By then there may be some new changes, colors, etc also. And to me, it would be worth paying $1500 to swap the emblems out. Personally, I would prefer it over the nightfall package, but everyone’s values/tastes are different. Kia was like the pinto of my generation, at least where I grew up, so that’s what I think of when I see that old emblem, myself as a teenager, who along with my buddies would bag on our other friend with a Kia every time his car broke down, which was all the damn time. All in good fun at the time, but Kia is rebranding for a reason. Their cars were “crap” for a few decades there in the 90s/00s.

I like my 2021 Prestige just the way it is, a great balance of features and value. Some of the early wish list options in this thread are available on the 21 model such as adaptive headlights, cup holder lights and approach lights (handles). Granted you will need the top of the line trim and extra lighting option.

If the price tag were bumped up $200 - $300, what additional feature would I want above all else? It would be auto dimming side mirrors. One thing that irritates me as a driver is the gigantic modified pickup trucks who’s headlights stand tall or a driver who doesn’t know what a dimmer switch is when following another vehicle. When they get behind you at night you want to...!=/@“. Use your imagination. Auto dimming side mirrors, I’d buy that in a minute!

I haven't heard of adaptive headlights on 21 SX Telly?

Definitely dimming side mirrors would be up at the top. Also wireless Android Auto. However, my my knowledge, the price is increasing $1500 for 22's and there are no notable changes.
