I contacted the dealer (Sussman Kia) yesterday and they said no trucks came in today (9/7) and my Telly is most likely sitting at the train yard waiting for auto transport due to a shortage of drivers. I’m trying to grasp how go about tracking it through the process.... can someone please explain? How and when do you get a VIN and what does fallcat actually show me? Sorry, I’m sure this has been answered since it seams everyone has a grasp on it but I can’t figure it out. Thank you

Yes, start above to learn. But, i25 is an honest dealership. They will keep you informed - you can't ask to track it until it's built (VIN assigned). But, the dealership will have all that information. 3-4 months most likely.

I read thru some of those posts and it wasn't clear to me from a customer standpoint until I kept up with this thread and forum for weeks, so I'll take a crack at explaining it. I welcome any corrections from anyone reading. Essentially you put your order with the dealership and they put it into Kdealer or a hold list/batch. Once a month, the KFOS window opens allowing dealers to submit their batch orders. Depending on dealer volume is how much allocation they get. Ideally they have enough available thru allocation that yours gets in on that month, otherwise it's held and gets a chance next month. For example if there are 25 orders on Kdealer, but allocation is only 20, then 20 get into KFOS and the rest get held. Once it gets into the KFOS, I'm not sure how long next steps are. I'm guessing this is when they start on the order? Not sure how long that takes, but then it will show up on Failcat. Your dealer should have the VIN the day before it shows up on Failcat if they keep up with it. But once it's on Failcat and you have a VIN, then you'll get an ETA.

My guess is your wait is dictated by a couple of factors I'm guessing, amount of orders vs allocation your dealership gets, and also if you have an uncommon configuration in terms of colors/trim.

I will be purchasing from I-25 as well. I kept an eye on Failcat and found one that had the color/trim that I had ordered. Checked with my salesperson and confirmed it was mine. Basically, once you get your VIN, then I'm guessing its 3-6 weeks for delivery depending on what part of the country you are in.
