If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my SUV" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your leather interior, please post in the Interior section - and so on... Remote start with fob

Bought new 2021 Telluride SX and having trouble getting remote start to work. Went back to dealership and they couldn’t help. I finally got the remote start to work using the app on my phone but I can’t get it to work on my fob. I found where it said to hold down the lock button for three seconds which I did but the button on the fob still won’t start the car. I appreciate any help!
Ugh so frustrating! I have had my telluride for almost 3 weeks and just got the remote start to work today! I had been using the app so no need for fob. I finally figured out hitting the lock button twice and then holding down the start button works!
hope this helps... I wish you luck!

Question was already answered, correctly, in post number 5. Press lock once and then hold the starter button on the side.

You have to hit the "Lock" button on the side and then hold the "Hold" button on the back for three seconds.

Are you able to get the heated seats and heat on with your remote start? I start mine in hospital where I work and 10 minutes it shuts off and seems heat won’t turn on or heated seats until I physically turn them on in the vehicle... am I missing something? What the point of automatic start if not heated when I get in the vehicle? I have a white SX AWD model 2021....

Yes, from the UVO app and web portal. You can set the climate and turn on heat accessories.

I'm assuming that if you use the remote fob....it will continue with whatever setting you had previously before shutting off the car.

Not from the app no. Only can turn on defrosters and heated steering wheel from there.

Since you have the AWD SX, you can set the heated seats to automatically come on depending on Auto climate settings. This setting is configurable in your infotainment settings. If you set your cabin temp to max heat, it is more likely it will turn on the heated seats when it isn’t super cold outside. I think it decides based on interior set temp and exterior temp differential.

Keep in mind that you need to select this setting on your center infotainment screen. If not already, make sure it is turned on in Setup > Vehicle > Seat > Heated/Ventilated Features > Auto Controls That Use Climate Control Settings.

Note that this is the path with the newest update; I cannot remember if this has changed from what it used to be or not. One way or another, it is similar to this.

Anyone been able to figure out how to extend the time of their Kia Telluride? I can remote start mine but it only runs for 30 seconds to 1 minute at most. How did you guys all get 10 minutes?

This is exactly how it will work. I have done this so many times, just lock the car, and straightaway press/hold the start button.
I have a new Telluride....sometimes the remote works on the FOB and sometimes it doesn't. Is there some secret?

Are you saying that before even approaching the car you can see it shutting off from a distance? It should always run for 10 minutes max regardless of using the app or FOB for remote start. Only once you approach the car will it possibly shut off prematurely. This is due to opening the door for about a minute and the car not sensing you FOB is close enough to the drivers seat. To avoid premature shutoff, open a front door before opening a rear door, or lean into the car with the key if moving cargo/kids around the back seats.

The remote FOB range is only about 100ft direct line of sight and could be significantly less when walls or obstacles are in the way. If your car can’t receive the lock or panic command from where you stand it will also not receive the start command.

Does anyone else’s remote start turn off automatically once the doors are unlocked and you are loading it? Keys are in my pocket and buckling kids in car seats and it turns off. Even if started it a minute before, what’s the deal ?

Yes, mine does the same and it is frustrating. It doesn't matter which door you open- If you remote start, open a door, then walk away(with fob in pocket), it will turn off immediately. Hopefully there is a setting somewhere that can be adjusted.....maybe someone on here can help with that.

No setting. It's the proximity sensor detecting you walking away. To by pass it, first open the driver side door and press on the brake pedal. That switches it off of remote start mode and then the car will just be running. People say you can just toss the keys in the front seat, for me sometimes that seemed to work and sometimes not.

I toss the key on a front seat or the console (after opening liftgate and unlocking doors for the kids). HTH

I heard the shutoff is some security or safety measure. 🤷🏻‍♀️

Same issue with remote start. It is inconsistent.
Has anyone figured out the solution to make it react consistently?
FYI I'm using the key button to remote start, not UVO.

Scenario 1 > I can't remote start the car from a distance. I hit lock button. I hold the button. Nothing. I rinse and repeat and randomly on 4th try, it works.
Scenario 2> I started the car from a distance. Fob in my pocket. 3 minutes later, I approached the car. Before I or anyone else could open the door, it turned off.
Scenario 3> I started the car as I was walking towards it with my kids. Fob in my pocket. 60 seconds later as I loaded my kids up in the back, it turned off.
Scenario 4> I started the car as I was walking towards it with my kids. Fob in my pocket. I loaded my kids up in the back. I got in. No issues.

Scenario 1 sounds like it could have been a range issue. It’s possible the lock button is a shorter signal sent compared to the remote start signal. Putting the fob under your chin while pressing the buttons will increase your range and signal strength.

Scenario 2 is an anomaly. It should never shut off after only 3 minutes run time if the doors were not open. Maybe you pressed the unlock button from afar and that causes the car to shut off prematurely if it auto locks once again when no doors are opened?

Scenario 3 has been covered at length on this thread and forum. The car expects the fob to be in the drivers seat within 30 seconds once any door is open. If it can detect the fob present, the car will switch to takeover and your radio will turn on. If it does not detect the fob, the car will auto turn off as a theft prevention measure. The detection range of the fob is less sensitive when the car is remote started. As opposed to when the auto folding mirrors/welcome lights detect on approach or the smart lift gate detection. This explains why Scenario 4 worked fine for you, only sometimes. To guarantee the car stays running, you can open the front doors first or step on the brake pedal before loading kids/cargo in the rear.

You think with today's technology they would just have it setup so when you press the remote start button it would auto lock the doors like the Durango does. Hitting 2 buttons is kind of dumb. However I am just glad they listened to people and now offer the FOB as the 2020 did not have one.

I also added the Accessorides plug and play remote start. Terrific. Works great . Install is not difficult. The app was a pain. KIA should offer a remote start without having to use the app. For under $300.00 I have what I wanted. Thank You forum members.
Can you tell me what you added? Where to get it? Thanks

If you google "Accessorides plug and play remote start", you will have your answer.

Is there a way to extend the 10min default remote start? I'm in upstate NY and 10 mins is hardly enough to warm up the car in our winters. I just purchased a 22 EX w/nightfall in November.

No, not configurable. Can start it a second or third time in a row.
