• Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my SUV" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your leather interior, please post in the Interior section - and so on... Rear AC question

🤖 AI Summary

No AI summary has been generated for this thread yet.
I understand exactly what you are saying. I had previous vehicles that would wait for the air to be warm before blowing also but most of my vehicles would start blowing before the air actually felt warm. It may have been warmer but sure didn't feel like it. I also have current vehicles that start automatically with the defroster on and the heated seats on when the temp outside is cold enough to get ice on the windshield and the ac comes on with the cooling seats on when warmer outside. I wonder if the EX has different settings than the SX. I also have a sync setting on mine along with an auto. I am starting to think I am lucky that the AC/Heat stays synced and stays in the same state, on/off, it was left the previous time the Telluride was used. My owners manual reads like that also. The rear ac/heat will stay off at the next restart if it was turned off before stopping the car. It will come on and be synced at the same temp as the front at the next restart if it was set before turning the SUV off previously. If these posts are any indication of the way most acts I thinking I am very lucky.

Did the dealer diagnose the issue? I'm wondering because I have the same issue with my S AWD Telluride, and it's super annoying to have to turn off the rear climate control every single time I get in the car. I called Kia USA support, and they had no clue about the issue. They directed me to bring it to my local dealer, which I did when I picked up my plates, but they had no clue either and merely stated they would "let HQ know." :cautious:
Same issue. So annoying

Same issue with my LX model. Everytime I turn on the car I have to remember to manually go into the rear climate on the console to turn off the cool air from blowing on my infant and toddler I'm the middle of the winter. It's beyond frustrating...I love my Telluride, but this is very annoying. The other annoyance with it is the remote start from the app (when the app wants to open...ever so slowly), it starts the car warming up ...but it's blowing cold in the backseat...where I need it to be warm for the kids. I really hope they fix this soon...I came to this forum looking for an answer, now I'm going to email Kia to inform them of this major oversight.

For EX and SX owners, does your rear climate turn on automatically if you open one of the rear passenger doors before opening the drivers door? I usually load my baby in her car seat first and it seems like my SX will have rear climate on by the time I get in to drive. Not sure if this only works with remote start though. And this has happened for me both when the car starts for the first time in the morning and when it’s been off for several hours before starting again.

Any new news on this?
Have the same issue. Mine always reverts to same setting of air. Doesn’t do much for remote start in the winter.

There is a new TSB that was just put out today from Kia. It is legit and I called my dealer and after a few minutes of searching around, it is in their system. Image is posted in link below (was in a Facebook Telluride owners group).

can you please provide us with the full TSB that shows the solution steps , i will print it and go to the dealer.
thx

I have no idea if this will work for anyone else, but my wife complained about the rear A/C being on when she started the vehicle too. I went into the 2nd row and turned off the A/C, then RESET her driver #1 configuration on the driver’s door (SXP). I also showed her where to change it on the center display if she needed it on. No issues since. I know on our Lexus vehicles the individual driver settings remember everything, to include hvac, audio and start screens. Just figured it was the same here?

BTW, if you have an SXP, you have the option of setting the heated/cooled seats and heated steering wheel to operate automatically in sync with the temperature setting on the hvac. I just set that for my wife this evening.

The facebook link above is dead. I was able to find the image and rehost it here:
The service desk at the dealership couldn't find the TSB when I took it in this morning. Hopefully this image will help others out. I'll share an update once the dealership gets back to me.

Thanks for getting this to us. I called my local dealer and he still says the rear AC turning on automatically is supposed to happen and has not heard of any "upgrade." I fwrd the PDF to the service lead and will hopefully now more tonight.

***Update*** Called my local dealer Murray Kia in Conshohocken, PA, and they did confirm that this is the correct fix and I have scheduled my ride for the "upgrade" next week. Many, MANY thanks to all of you who continued to push and get this info out.

Redbeard- would love an update- did it work??

It absolutely worked. I did have to email the service dept the TSB PDF as it sounds like the dealerships aren't being notified by Kia corporate that this fix has been available since February. I managed to get it handled with my 6 month oil change so 2 birds, 1 stone...so to speak.

Same thing to me. Dealer started the work and had to order a part so I have to bring it back to get it finished. But they did not know about it and I had to show them the link so thanks for sending. Kia does not offer to do this work unless you bring it up!
