We are not ever bound by any laws to buy American. Right now Kia/Hyundai make a much better product than Ford & Chevy so thus the Telluride. If we can build better cars I’ll find a way just as I find a way to “build” better officers. By that I mean hiring officers with integrity, courage and compassion. Hire better, train better and resolve conflicts better with less loss of life. At least that is the road we have attempted to travel down in my tenure here. Always open to better ways and tools to get the job done.Yes. For instance, there are many police departments at the state and local levels that have used foreign motorcycles like BMW and Kawasaki. They're not as common as Harleys but it is done. The NYPD has Toyota Priuses also.
In some ways, the US is vaguely like the EU in how state laws and federal laws relate to each other. In many cases they conflict. According to the Constitution, federal laws are supposed to prevail but it often means going to court. Then there are cities like NY that have home rule and they can do what they want to a fair degree.
Nice. As I was reading I was thinking it'd be a traffic vehicle with those ghost markings but I'd presume you don't do much traffic at this stage in your career Sir. Haha
Enjoy it, let us know how it does on the trail! I'd imagine it's better than the new exploders. Had one delivered and upon delivery the damn door lock mechanism broke!! 11 miles on the thing. They took it back and returned it after repairs. Nuts

Typically true but in a town where only one officer is on duty at a time, most of my 40 hours is spent covering calls alone Thus it will get normal patrol use.I'm curious to see how they are doing in a couple of years of road work when you get one or two put into the fleet. No disrespect, but Chief vehicles don't get rode hard and put up wet <G>...

Scott
But you are correct, time will tell.Typically true but in a town where only one officer is on duty at a time, most of my 40 hours is spent covering calls alone Thus it will get normal patrol use.

I like the idea of the hood lights! (next build). Takedowns up top from inside, grill and fog all can do steady white and even in daylight sometimes are more than enough. Alley white lights also on both mirrors work well. Build will be similar to my current TahoeNice photos of the vehicle. I hope it works out well for you. I would take this over an Explorer any day of the week. Looking at your light set up, looks nice. One thing I found with low profile lighting (had one as a Tahoe) was that placing a couple of lights on the hood line just before the windshield helped put light where more cars could see it. When close, the grill lights couldn't be seen, and sometimes the higher up inner edge lights for some cars were too high. I had three levels of light for not much money and it worked very well for people being able to see you. Didn't see what you had in side windows for lighting for when you cant the vehicle or just clear the intersections... Doing anything for scene lighting or takedowns?
