• Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my SUV" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your leather interior, please post in the Interior section - and so on... I am looking to find out how to disable the passenger seat belt alarm. I find it annoying since it goes off so easily when driving. Is there a way to at least make it stop in a shorter time if I can't disable it all together? I understand about the safety features of wearing the seat belt, but don't need the alarm to make me do this. Thanks!

I'm confused, is there someone sitting in the passenger seat unbuckled or does it just go off when the seat is empty?

Yes, there is someone sitting in the passenger seat. It does not go all randomly. I would prefer that it not go off at all, but less time would be better.

So you're looking to have a passenger in the passenger seat unbuckled and not have it chime at you?

lol... just wear your seatbelt. they literally save lives...even on short trips.
That's what I'm thinking but I wanted to see what the reasoning was. I know someone who got theirs disabled on their pickup but that was years ago. He was a big hunter and was in and out of the truck all day and driving at slow speeds.

not the point, but thank you for the advise.

Back in 2013 my Tacoma and Highlander Belt warnings were disabled by the dealer via the vehicles computer. I have no idea if Kia dealers have this option.

Since I could not find any way to disable the seat belt alarm, I found these on Amazon and they do what I want. If the seatbelt is unbuckled for something, the alarm does not go off with these installed.

The seatbelt is being worn most of the time. There are instances where it is taken off to do something. I know the reasons for wearing the seatbelt.

Not certain it fits a Telluride but it probably does. Alarm defeater

Its very simple, under the front seats there is a black wire that comes out of where the belt buckles and it connects to the white clip, just disconnect the wire from it and the seatbelt sign and the annoying chime are gone!
i did this today and test drove it.. result no chime no seatbelt sign on the dash display.
very simple and easy!View attachment 6266
I would think this would work for passenger side too.

Thank you. This is more "invasive" than what I was looking for. But, this is an option for anyone that might want to do this instead of buying something to install on the seatbelt itself. Thank you for responding. I had not heard anything since originally posting my question and had found something on my own. Now folks have at least 2 solutions.

On one of my cars, the manual's customization chart lists the features that can be user modified and the features that can be dealer modified. The audible seat belt alarm is listed as a dealer modifiiable feature. In fact, I got the dealer to turn it off before I left the lot. Not sure about the Telluride yet.

Hi I’m going to order these just making sure they will work on my 2021 telluride SX P. Thanks

Mine is a 2020, but since the seatbelt clips are a standard size, I think they should work fine.

Seatbelt charm or alarm disable. For the driver seat, I was able to disable the seatbelt chime by disconnecting the latch sensor. A connection to the sensor is located directly under the seat. It is easy to see a black wire coming from the latch to the white automotive connector. All I did was disconnect that automotive connector by squeezing the clip on the top and bottom from the front of the connector (came off easily). I then connected an Ohm meter to the two connection points and looked at the resistance when the seatbelt was and was not in the latch. My understanding is the seatbelt latch uses a simple reed switch to detect when the seatbelt is secured. When latched, the reed switch opens the circuit (i.e. resistance is infinite) and closes the switch when unlatched (i.e. the connection is shorted, low resistance). Therefore, if you just disconnect the sensor, the circuit is open, and the car senses that as the seatbelt being latched and voila, no more seatbelt warnings. Disclaimer: Obviously, do this at your own risk. BTW, I also went into the Engineering and Dealer mode in the computers to see if there was an option there. I also used the ODB port monitor Torque Pro with no options there either.
