I hope @stevencantrelle will give his thoughts, but I was told all Kia dealerships have a allocation of tellurides (all models) that Kia will allow them each month. For example 10 SX, 8 EX, 3 S, 1 LX per month. If you ordered an SX, and all 10 SX orders were submitted for the month, you have to wait until the next month for your order to go in. But let’s say all the orders we input for the month, then 12 people were ahead of you for SXs the next month, that means you’d be the 3rd in line to order in the following month. So basically in this scenario, if you ordered in October for example, you order wouldn’t be picked up by KFOS until December.
does this seem correct peeps!?

Sorry...this is the point I hope Steven can help with. Once in KFOS, how long until a vin is made?

Will show up on failcat once Telluride is built...

*how long from ordering a Telluride till a car is built is a really broad answer..*

Depends on how many orders are infront of you. Depends on how many the dealership is averaging each month in allocation. Depends on location compared to factory.

some dealers have a 6-9 month wait on here. Others have a 3 month wait.... lots of variables

@StephenCantrelle Hi! Can you help me understand what I'm seeing on failcat? I ordered from Peak Kia in CO. They told me it was ordered and KIA picked it up.

What does "picked it up" mean? I try to see the vehicles on there on Failcat but I don't think I see my car.

I don't know if ordered = showed up on Failcat, or wait another week or so for it to show, etc?

I stumbled across my ideal Telluride after a separate test drive at Arapahoe Kia here in CO. I put down a deposit on 11/16 and on 12/16 the salesman sent me the VIN. I think my situation is a little different than your question because they knew the vehicle was coming to their dealership back when I test drove on 11/16. About a month after the VIN was created will the car finally be delivered. I did have an order with I-25 Kia, where I sent them my ideal build, back on November 12th and it still hasn't been picked up by KIA to my knowledge.

I think only once your VIN is created will your vehicle show up on FC. How has your experience been with Peak Kia? I'm down the street at Arapahoe Kia and it's been pretty good so far. My sales rep emails me with any updates in a timely manner.
 
@StephenCantrelle could you also check VIN 5XYP5DHC1MG150074 please. Hopefully the initials attached are SD or DD. Thank you!

It's been good. I am working with James from Peak and he explained everything about the process (since I've never ordered a car before) and once we made the decision, we reached back out. He was quick to respond and process everything. Everytime I reach out he has been responsive. I do wish they would reach out first instead of me, but I also think I'm too anxious and feel like there should be more updates but the orders barely just placed a couple weeks ago 🤣

Also, does VIN created = built? Usually I hear that takes about 2 -3 months at least from order date right?

They may be referring to your order going into KFOS which just opened up... you should get your first ETA if that is the case middle to end of next week,

Once the Telluride is built and generates a VIN number you will see it show up on failcat which is catching Vin numbers as they are produced.
