So I called the dealership and they told me that my 2021 model is not at risk. Yet, I am seeing that most people are posting 2022 and 2023 models are the only ones not at risk.. Please can anyone tell me if you have any intel on this? I keep googling and the more I google, the more confused I am getting!!!!!!!!

Not at risk for what? You might need to be more specific.

If you’re referring to the tow harness recall, your 2021 wouldn’t be affected by that unless you had the bad OEM 4-pin part installed as an accessory. If you got the tow package from the factory, it had the 7-pin connector and is fine.

Probably talking about the tik tok/ USB car starting thefts for Kia’s that do not have push to start. No tellurides are at risk.

This would make sense as well. Another reason it would have been nice if OP was more specific. Way easier to give a helpful response if we know what we’re actually answering. Shouldn’t be a guessing game! 😉

I would suggest take nothing for granted. If you have keyless start, whenever your vehicle is parked outside, I would put all key fobs in a metal cookie container with the lid on. The metal block transmission of the signal. People with receivers can’t pick it up and use it open the vehicle and drive away.

Your car getting stolen or not depends on what neighborhood you are parking in.

Risk #1 - TikTok challenge nonsense - NO. This is for cars that still have a key and the Telluride does not.

Risk #2 - Vulnerability in FOB cloning - NO. The Telluride FOB is not the same model that has the risk.

General risk like any other vehicle on the market - YES. Any popular car is at risk to be stolen for parts and if a thief is motivated enough they can steal it. But no higher risk that say a Camry or Accord yet people still buy plenty of those without major concerns of theft.

Take a look at this thread regarding #2 above:

I'm in the process of getting my insurance coverage updated, and I was told today by Travelers Insurance that my 2020 Telluride falls within the model years that are vulnerable, which prevents them from underwriting a policy that includes Collision and Comprehensive.
