• Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my SUV" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your leather interior, please post in the Interior section - and so on... Does the car lock with the key fob inside?

No it does not. It will only lock after no remote is present which is 5 feet or so away from the vehicle.

So, I just tried this. If the engine is off it won't lock. If the engine is on, it will lock from the inside, on the door lock button. I'm not sure if the doors will lock from the fob. I wanted to know after seeing this thread, because, in sketchy parts of town, I like to be able to get in and lock the doors. Maybe paranoid, but I hate dark parking lots.

If the car is on, key in it, and doors close, does it lock in Park automatically? Or do you need to move into drive.

My wife is super paranoid we put out baby in, close the door and going around the to drivers side she will then be locked out. It's our first kid so that might add to the paranoia lol

As far as I know, it won't automatically lock in park. You can configure it to automatically lock when you shift out of park, or after the vehicle reaches 9.3mph, but it it won't automatically lock while your in the vehicle. So, you will need to manually lock the doors yourself if you want them locked while in park.

You should be aware that the user configuration allows auto unlock methods, one unlocks when you shift to park and another unlocks when you turn the vehicle off. So, if you want the doors to remain locked, even if you shifted to park and turned the vehicle off, you need to disable these auto-unlock features.

Amazing thank you! I don't have a manual yet, but hoping later today I do!

Great info, really appreciate you taking the time.

Idk, but I know that my wife WAS able to lock her keys inside her Sportage. Thank goodness for AAA.

I told my wife what was presented to me here, she said it was supposed to be the same on her 4runner and she doesn't trust it because that locked her out once.

Looks like there are blips in all these systems, fingers crossed its not an emergency when it strikes.

I will have to try to remember to try that later and let you know.
Except, I'm pretty certain she could not get locked out. If the doors do lock automatically (I don't think they do in Park), then you could just push the button on the handle to unlock them. The handle lock and unlock button works very well, and since the key would be in proximity, being inside the vehicle, there seems no chance of being locked out from the drivers side. However, from the passenger door, maybe.

I like that the key fob only unlocks the drivers door and the proximity sensor works for the drivers door handle unlock as well. Being a female in dark parking lots makes me paranoid that someone could jump in the other side. And this would prevent that.
