This really looks like exterior damage. There is nothing behind that part of the bumper. Some picture from the backside of bumper would indicate if the damage is external. But that's a lot of work to take off the bumper.
What type of exterior source would cause damage like that in a perfectly straight line at the same time my engine is overheating? Like I mentioned earlier, as soon as it overheated, I pulled over, got out, and saw the damage. It all happened in about 3-4 minutes. That damage was not there prior to leaving the house. I walk out facing my car and would have seen it. Funny, because the tow truck driver said he saw this same type of damage from a wire that overheated that runs behind the bumper. And I know the dealership didn't take it off to look. This is the second KIA that I have had issues with. My wife has a Stinger that the dealership had for a month trying to find out why the engine was leaking. They had the wrong plugs in the back of the engine. It has been a nightmare.

Well, I just received the text that KIA is not going to warranty the damage. Fully what I expected at this point. Probably going to sell all three of the KIAs that I have. They are saying that the damage was not caused by anything in the engine. SUCH BS!!!!

As I mentioned before. If you have good experience with an independent shop, you might want to have them look at everything. It may cost you a few bucks, but, it might be worth it.

Looking to cover or replace the KIA emblems on your Telluride? Look no further than right here in our own forum store - where orders are shipped immediately!

I am planning on doing that. Thank you!

Sorry for resurrecting an old thread, but we just ran into this issue with our 2020 telluride SX.
Driving carpool with a bunch of kids and heavy stop and go traffic. My wife noticed the AC was blowing very hot and suddenly an overheating warning began flashing on the instrument panel, and it was dinging as well.

I arrived and started to check things out. It seems like common issues are low, coolant levels, issues with fan, connections, or grounds, or issue with thermostat. The closest dealership to us is an hour away, but I was going to get a local mechanic to go ahead and check the fan, coolant, and just replace the thermostat. It looks like there are two parts to the thermostat as well. The thermostat itself and a coolant temp sensor. I imagine both of those should be replaced.

I’m just trying to avoid another issue like this since it causes chaos, trying to get a bunch of kids around, and I don’t have time to play BS with a dealership an hour away that says nothings wrong cents , it’s probably not gonna be able to be re-created.

FYI, I drove it home about 6 miles in decent traffic and no overheating. Any thoughts or comments? On the right path or not? Thanks.

Also. Just checked cold engine coolant level and it shows at full line in overflow bin. Fan connection cable is good and connected properly. I hate intermittent problem troubleshooting with no codes. Especially on newer vehicles. This one has 42k on it.

I’m so close to just selling this vehicle and walking away from Kia. Their customer service (at the corporate level) is so bad! I like the designs of their vehicles, and of course all the features you get, but at some point it‘s not worth all the quality control issues.
