• Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my SUV" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your leather interior, please post in the Interior section - and so on... Just ordered an 21 Ex and was wondering if there is anyway to get SX front parking sensors installed on my EX ?

Not sure if it’s possible but I would be in for such an upgrade also.

Even if it is possible, it would probably be cheaper to just get an SX in the first place.

You would need to put holes in your bumper, put in the sensors, and now you would have to hack your head unit to show the data from them. Would likely be much more of an effort and expense than it is worth.

To me it feels like it should be an easy dealer upgrade but I’ve searched the forum and haven’t found anything . It already has the rear sensor so not sure why it wouldn’t be possible to have Kia put a front sensor in .

SX is going for over 6k more . Your saying 1 sensor is 6k? I find that hard to believe

Well, it’s 4 sensors. 😉 And drilling and wiring and hacking.

It’s a $5K difference from a base EX to a base SX. But most EX models have the Premium package, which gets you $1700 closer to an SX.

I know I wouldn’t want a hack job done on my brand new vehicle.

Ya i have a base ex on order. Wanted bench seat but was really hoping there was a way to get OEM front sensor from the ex on the sx

I don't think it will be as easy as you think. First, I highly doubt any Kia dealers are authorized to install non-trim-specific equipment. They would be more inclined to upsell you the higher trim instead.
Your best bet will be DIY method. If the IBU is pre-programmed for front sensors(unknown part number/price if needed), possible parts you would need are:
1. 4 parking sensors. $61 each. Part Number is color dependent. Example
2. Bumper wiring harness. $119.25. I assume you'd need the harness with camera for parking sensor connection. From this harness, you go through main harness and connect to IBU. I do not know connection to IBU is already there or not. If you need connections there, you will need another harness(Unknown part/price).
3. Drill through the bumper for sensors or buy SX bumper with predrilled holes. $271
4. Buy yourself 3 day access to KGIS repair manual. $19
As you can see, the parts are not that expensive but you will spend hours researching and taking things apart. If you enjoy doing stuff like this, it looks like a good project to spend few weekends on. But BIG if is whether or not IBU is pre-programmed for front sensors. You can call your dealer's parts department and see if there are 2 different part number(if there is any) for IBU. If it's same then it's good to go. If not ask for a price and add that to above.

I appreciate the thorough response. I just wish they would make it a dealer option . Just like adding the fog lights for 400 or cargo cover for 300. Just charge me and add it in. The bench was the main want so the Sx wasn’t an option but wanted to see if anyway to get this done.

You can always get a Palisade SEL with a bench and front parking sensors... except by the time you get the premium package required to get a rear bench, you’re already over $41,000 for the FWD or $42,700 for AWD.
