• Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my SUV" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your leather interior, please post in the Interior section - and so on... Lately, our Telluride which we just received new about a month ago has had this issue where we fill it with gas, the pump shuts off as if the tank is full but when we drive away we are only at 3/4 of a tank. This has now happened twice in a row to us. I dont think to check until I'm already pulling away but will definitely pay attention next time. Anyone have this happen or have any suggestions on what to do about it?
Thanks.

Might be a faulty sensor for fill level.

Might want to look at gallons filled. If it is in the range of 15.5 to 17 gallons the tank is full and the sensor is probably the problem.

Many Prius owners have this problem and the quick fix is to fill with pump turned at 3 o’clock position. Try to see if that help.

Has been reported by others before. Some have said it just takes a little driving before the gauge will start to drift to full. Also make sure you are not topping off the gas beyond the auto shut off from the handle.

"...if you’re constantly plagued by fuel pumps that keep, annoyingly, cutting off...it could be because the flow rate is simply too high for your fill pipe length. In that case, you can try adjusting the trigger setting to a lower notch, or squeezing it less with your hand, or possibly angling the fill nozzle to give the little breather hole a better chance of not getting splashed or submerged by gasoline."

I rotate the fill nozzle to the 3:00 position and no longer have the issue of the pump shutting off when the tank is not full, in addition the fuel flow is faster (just watch the gallons meter on teh pump) and fills the car sooner.

Slow the pump down when you have put about 15 gallons in or a couple of gallons before full. The pump won’t shut off as quickly.

thanks for your suggestions. I'll work through these next time we fill up!
