"Market Adjustment" all over the place.....even on Nissan Pathfinder

The new 2022 redesigned Nissan Pathfinder is out and at the dealer. I checked the dealer I bought my Frontier at a couple of years ago. They have a couple. And yes.......there's even a so called "Market Adjustment" for those too...... $6000. Forget that:

this is the market trying to change to take advantage of the public's partial acceptance of dynamic pricing changes creeping into the car space.

traditionally, if something is demanded it's msrp and stock shortage. Nowadays it's msrp plus a dealer prem for certain vehicles.

tesla has challenged people's thinking because you'll hear in the news "model 3 price increase by 800 dollars" or "model s price increase of 1200 dollars" ...

it is what it is

I mean, back in the day you only ordered a car from the factory because you couldn't find the model with the package or specs you wanted.

Today I just posted a down payment for a Telly because I cannot get it from the lot. 2-4 month wait or maybe even longer. I have to accept this.

These obvious pricing changes get noticed more because the “market adjustment” line item is staring in our faces. As is the difference between selling price and MSRP. But here it’s only 15%.

But many used cars have seen price increases of a much higher percentage. But there’s no equivalent to an MSRP on a Monroney window sticker for used cars … and most consumers are not tracking what the same cars were selling for ~6 months ago.

I guess I just remember when they advertised prices below, sometimes thousands below msrp. It's a different world. A bizarre world....now it's thousands above msrp...

It’s crazy indeed. I’ve purchased 9 new vehicles in my lifetime and have never paid MSRP. For the majority, in fact, the selling price (not including taxes and fees) was around 20% under MSRP.

I now have a Telluride on order at MSRP, which speaks volumes not so much to the market, but to the value the Telluride offers even at MSRP.

RAV4 Prime with a $20,000 market adjustment! $61,000 for a RAV4..... At least they didn't hide it in over-priced, bogus add ons. I have to give them credit for being transparent.

Wow. I heard some Ford Dealers are going to be able to get $100,000 for the new Bronco when it comes out..the big Bronco, not the sport that's already out. And since when did a "gouge" become a "Market adjustment"......it's just gouging. I was thinking of getting my daughter Jeep Wrangler for her college graduation. I don't even want to look.....unreal.

I see that the suburban Chicago dealership that I traded my Palisade Calligraphy to is asking 5k over MSRP for it. From what I'm hearing, they'll probably get it!

Definitely temporary due to component shortages creating a very wonky market.

I posted on the bad dealers, but we are flirting with getting a 2nd one and the local dealer was offering an LX for 48k.
