Rogue Chime?

Wondering if anyone has experience a similar thing. It's the strangest thing. I start the Telly, pull out of my garage, down the driveway and go about 300 feet to the end of my street. Make a left and then go about 800 feet or so and then hear a rogue chime. Nothing pops up on the display. This typically happens when the car has sat overnight. Now what's even stranger - if I make a right out of my street, and continue - this doesn't happen. When the chime does go off I'm slowing down at a stop sign. It's not the first stop sign I come to - it's the second. I'm scratching my head. I know you get a chime as you approach a red light camera, but this is a different chime. Is it some kind of confirmation that it's successfully reading street signs? Any thoughts/theories are welcome! Thanks!

how cold has it been in your area? Anywhere 40 degrees F and below could trigger the ice warning on the dash. It can trigger at random times but usually once some time after startup. It can be disabled in the dash settings.

Hmmm - that's interesting. I've definitely seen that warning come up but I haven't associated it with that chime. But with that said, it very well could be. Yesterday when it happened, it had to be at least 45 degrees out so I don't think it was that - but the next time this happens I'll certainly look at the dash for that spot. Sounds very logical! Really appreciate the thoughts!

Okay - I tested again today and at 53 degrees the chime (or really a nice tone/jingle similar to the one as you get to a red light camera) went off in the exact same place again. Checked dash and infotainment system - no indications. I'm stumped. Tomorrow I'll have my wife video it as it happens so I can have others hear the sound and watch the dash at the same time. I'm wondering if it has something to do with HD Radio - maybe notifying that it has a good connection and info is ready? That's just a wild guess.

I was going to guess it maybe thinks there's a red light camera at the intersection. That's the only time I hear that chime.

Fair thought. But there is no red light camera icon in the map or heads up display. I do think it’s confused on something! Makes it a fun puzzle to try to solve!

Was it reading 53 degrees as the current exterior temp in the dash? Not from a weather app on your phone, or the UVO weather app right? Because the ice warning would be tied to the dash reading.

Also, how many miles remain on your scheduled service interval? Could it be the service due reminder?

Thanks for helping me try to solve this. The dash was reading 53 degrees. Just checked my service interval and I still have 7048 miles or 333 days to go - so that's not it either.

So this morning I had my wife video the cluster and infotainment screens as we got to the spot where it always happens. What do you think happened next? Nothing! Of course... lol. We'll continue to try to video it and catch it!!!

Okay - finally got a video of the chime this morning! The attached video link is about 7 seconds long and the chime comes in at about 5 seconds in between a stop sign ahead sign and the stop sign. I set the infotainment to the home screen (I usually use the map screen but not necessary for everyone to know exactly where I live). While I didn't get the full cluster, there were no signs of any indicators on the infotainment header or the cluster. About 15 seconds after this, I did get the ice warning chime and pop-up on the cluster. Let me know if you have any ideas. Thanks.

That doesn’t sound like any sound coming from the car. Do you have some sort of tracker or device plugged into your OBD-II port or wired up somewhere in the driver footwell?

Ahhhhh - interesting. Yes I do - I have a Garmin dashcam mini 2 connected to the OBD-II port. I have the same one connected to my wife's Jeep in the same manner and don't recall the chime/tone - but I think you may be on to something there! Let me do some additional testing around this dashcam - nice catch!!!

Agreed with Bruesjoh04, that sounds like a third party device, not OEM from the car or car speakers.
