For more than 48 hours I've been trying to get a straight answer. Dealership didn't know, online info is conflicting. Haven't found a hard solid answer. I need to know what the roof load limit is for a Kia Telluride, specifically (though probably no diff than other years) the 2021 model. The owner's manual says 220 lbs. (100 kg) EVENLY DISTRIBUTED on page 4-176. Again, dealership doesn't know. Most sites online say 165. Even my old vehicle (Hyundai Santa Fe) is rated at 220.

I've purchased a James Baroud Grand Rail XXL rooftop tent. It weighs 165 lbs. I have Kia side rails from the factory. Trying to find a set of cross bars rated high enough and no taller than 6.5 inches off the top of the roof (not the side rails, the top of the roof) has proven to be ridiculously hard. That's all the space I have height wise to fit under my garage door and I already was able to raise it by 4 inches but that's it. By the way I'm about to pass an hour being on hold with Kia Customer support.

Anybody else been down this road that can give me some advice?

The frontrunner slimline II rack sits about 5 1/4" inches off the top of the roof. Other members in the forum have been using the rack with a RTT.

Would this be a difference between roof rack and cross bars? I would trust the manual's 220lb (dynamic). So you'll have to find crossbars that can match that load. Most Thule's, for example, are 220lb, I believe.
