In other words, "I need help with my SUV" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. Has anyone used any kind of rooftop cargo on the Telluride other than a hardshell cargo carrier with on the crossbars? Unfortunately I am not able to get the Thule Fit Kit for my crossbars in time for my upcoming trip as it's on backorder everywhere. I know there are cheaper crossbars I could buy in the meantime, but ultimately I would like to use the Thule that I have, meaning the cheaper ones would just be wasted money at some point.

I was considering getting the Rightline Sport 3 rooftop cargo bag and hooking it to the door frame since we could use it on our other car later. I am worried though that it might scratch the paint or damage the weather stripping. Anyone have experience with this?

Any other thoughts or alternatives would be appreciated!

I just bought and received the Thule fit kit #186095 for the Wingbar Evo 135 from Amazon sold by Rack Attack. Amazon had two left a couple of days ago, but not now. Rack Attack website now only have limited availability for stores, so could try to contact individual locations near you and possibly have them ship.

etrailer.com may have some, they do not show out of stock like everyone else and Thule website.

I have the Rightline Sport 2. It’s maiden voyage is in a week. I have a basket though. Didn’t want the bag sitting on the moonroof of my SXP.

Wow really??? I have been looking around for a few weeks without any luck. :(

Unfortunately it doesn't look like there are any Rack Attack stores near PA.

I had actually placed an order for the 186095 fit kit at etrailer in mid July thinking it was in stock at the time. I just got an email from them the other day saying they won have it in stock until January 3rd, so I have about given up to get it any time soon. :/

Thank you for the reply!

Yea I also don't love the idea of putting the bag on the moonroof either, but I think I'm running out of options. I'm assuming you need to mount the basket on crossbars as well, right?

Thank you for the reply!

Did you ask this question a few weeks ago?

I vaguely remember a similar thread with a similar issue.

I wouldn't risk messing up the paint on my Telly with some DIY strapping of cargo bags onto the moon roof and going through the doors. Why?

Just get some quality crossbars and a quality roof box that fits.

I picked up a brochure for the 2021 Telluride at a local Kia dealership parts department and they sell so many Yakima products that play nice with Kia's own OEM Cross Bars (supposedly Kia Motors America partnered with Yakima to develop compatible racks and cool stuff that attach to the Kia bars).

First time posting for me, was trying to find a similar thread but I wasn't able to.

Well unfortunately I already have the Thule crossbars and feet, I just can't find the fit kit anywhere and my trip is on Aug 20th, so now I'm scrambling for additional storage. We will be using all three rows for seating and I already got a hitch cargo carrier, but I don't think that will be enough storage. My plan was to use a cargo box with bars, but I don't think that's gonna work for my trip unless I order some cheap ones on Amazon or settling for the Kia ones.

I have also looked into the Yakima roof rack system, but the clips for that also seem to be on backorder. I know I could get the Kia crossbars, but I prefer the through bar rack system that Thule and Yakima offer.

I'll have to contact my dealer about Yakima products to see if they can help. I had asked them about the Thule FitKit and they told me the only carry Kia products. :/

Thank you for the reply!

The Thule Evo Flush Fit Kit 186095 just became in stock at Thule.com it you are looking.

Not sure this helps with bare roof issue, but the Rightline Sport Bag worked very well. I would recommend more smaller bags rather than large duffels which make packing the cargo bag more challenging.

Awesome! Thank you for info!. I about to set mine up as I decided to go with that as well. I'll post an update later as I am setting it up with roof racks. Wish me luck! 😁

I have a reasonable suggestion.

Strap one family member onto the roof and use their available space for storage.

Easy peasy.

Super idea and I know exactly who is going up there in my case.

In case anyone is interested, we ended up doing the trip with the Rightline sport 3 bag with no crossbars.

It actually worked out perfectly with no damage to the car. The only thing that worried me at first was that it did make the weather molding inside the car deformed, however it does go back to original shape after a day or so on its own.

There are some negatives a out using the bag the way I did:
1. It does create some wind noise in the car since you are breaking the seal of the weather molding. It's not that bad though. We got used to it and you probably wouldn't notice it if you had some music playing.

2. When it's raining you may get some water that soaks into the straps and drips off the hooks inside the car. It rained twice for us and the first time we got drips and the second time we didn't. I think it depends on the speed you are traveling. When we were driving at higher speeds we didn't get any drips. Might just be coincidence though.

Definitely make sure to pack the bag a bit front heavy and totally covering the underneath mat fully in the front. Otherwise the mat underneath will flap in the wind which can be pretty annoying.

If anyone has any other questions let me know!
