• Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my SUV" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your leather interior, please post in the Interior section - and so on... When they lie down for cargo do they lie flat like the bench seat? Thanks

I would say it is the same angle. Neither the bench seat or the captain’s chairs fold completely flat.

Does anyone now if the bench and captain chairs have the same slider layout. Thinking about in future if I find a wreck Telly to switch out my bench to captain chairs. I didn't want to spend the extra money to get the higher model with captain chairs

One big difference between the bench seat and the captain's seat is there is very little gap with the bench seats when they are down. The captain's seat has a bigger gap. The KT seats lay down almost flat. Compared to several other SUV's I considered the KT is the flattest.

Yes, the seats are more level than any other CUV I have seen. And you are right, the bench seats make a really nice platform on which to put stuff, and there isn't a hole for things to fall into. But there is definitely a tradeoff between the flexibility of the Captain's chairs and the bench seat which holds you prisoner in the third row!

Agreed, but I like to put my "prisoners" in utilitarian bench seats, devoid of comfort, rather than provide them the luxury of a cushy captains chair.

Well actually the bench seats are relatively comfortable since it also reclines, has center arm rest, plus I like the option of 8 passenger seating so I bought an EX. It would have been nice to have an SX with a bench seat option. That would have been my pick!

Is it just me? The Captains chairs don't recline nearly as far as my old Santa Fe... they don't recline all or almost all the way back....

I was hoping for a bench but settled for an S with Captains because I was in a bind and needed a new ride and they had this one on the lot that met most (but of course not all) of my requirements and waiting for an EX or placing a custom order was not an option, and an LX was out of the question due to the lack of roof rails. I've had it for a week today but not having a bench in the 2nd row still bothers me a little... maybe the feeling will go away eventually? Would have liked Fog Lights and AWD also. Oh well.

What I don't like about having the Captains... 1) the gap between them when they are laying down 2) The gap behind them when the 3rd row is laying down. It would be nice to have some sort of separators/fillers in these instances, perhaps stow-able in the storage compartment in the back when they are not in use. We travel with our dogs sometimes so that's the main reason I'd prefer to have some sort of separator between the rows when the 3rd is down and being used for cargo. I suppose it's not that big of a deal just need to put something there that fills the gap enough so they can't jump back there but I was hoping for something that looked like it was made for the vehicle/interior.

Found out a few days ago at the dealership that you MUST ensure you leave a gap between the second and thrid rows when the are folded down because they rub against each other and create a ‘hole’. Kia is refusing to create a fix or honor a repair.

That’s a bummer

Is that for the captain's chairs folded down or bench? Or both?

Not sure but the tech told us about it. Just make sure they don’t rub when you fold them.
