Looks great Lance. How's the ride quality and noise compared to stock? I'm still debating on doing the lift and 18" wheels with the same Toyo tires.

It’s barely louder then stock If you had your radio on low volume you wouldn’t even hear it . Drives great and the looks I’m getting are definitely turning heads. I went to the grocery store yesterday and the guy parked next to me was like “ what is that “ I said telluride and he said looks mean lol. It’s a good attention that’s for sure. The lift was not to bad I could give you pointers if your wondering about the install.

There's a local shop that quoted me roughly 300 for the install if I decide to pull the trigger. I don't really have the tools to manage it on my own. Every time I see one of these lifted Tellurides it makes it harder for me to say no.

I have the 17" Black Rhino Warlords and the shop had to shave a bit off the calipers to clear. Brakes still work fine. At first there was some rubbing but now I dont notice them anymore. 🤷‍♂️
Oh man, these Rhino warlords wheels are tight. ❤️👍 So 17" does have problems with the clearance on the brake calipers. 😞 Those Toyo Open Country AT3 tires looks great on those rims what size are they? I'm thinking if 17" wheel works, I'll like to put 265/70R17 or 265/65R17 any advice...👌👌 I'm sure you had the 2"lift for those wheel set up right... So which after market lift kit is made for Telluride so far...? Overall looks awesome you nailed it!! 👍👍

Thanks, I do love my setup but anything bigger will cause noticeable rubbing. You can find my specific setup on my signature.

nice looking rig.. some other wheel choices people have made scare me 😳

how is tire noise?
Barley notice it. Nitto is known for having a quiet AT tire.

Hi all!

This is my first foray into modding a car. I love the look y'all have with 2" lift and 265s and would like to go in that direction. I also live in Denver and spend a lot of time in the mountains, both summer and winter, so I need function in addition to the aesthetics.

Where I'm stuck -- I have no clue how to shop for a wheel + tire combo. Some questions:
  1. High level -- can you point me to a resource where I can start learning about various factors in fitting wheels and tires?
  2. I like the look of steelie wheels but I'm reading that people are recommending alloy over steel. Why is that?
  3. Taking a look at this and this alloy wheel that look like steelies, I'm not sure how to differentiate why one costs more than the other. Any tips?
  4. Do y'all use different wheel + tire combos for summer vs winter? Why?
Tagging @Alonzo_Tigerhart because it seems like you know what you're talking about! Do you have any rubbing with your 2" lift and 265s?

IMHO Those wheels do not look like steelies. I got some Fifteen52 Analog wheels for my Land Cruiser, and really like them. Cast wheel ("alloy") appearing as a stamped steel.. I haven't seen many others. but I think they only come in 16"

With that said, get what you like. You can get 18" steel wheels from Mobsteel and a few other vendors, but not cheap. Probably the wrong look as well.

Thanks for the link! Agreed, what you linked are much better steelie example. I also am inclined to agree that it might not be the right look. I love how steelies look on Jeeps and 4runners and am thinking of going with an all black Telly, but the Telly is closer to a luxury ride than an off-road vehicle.

I've been spending way too much time on this forum looking at pics, but if you see any builds that look more off-roady, please PM me!

FYI - What OEM 20” wheels with 245/50R20 Toyo Open Country AT III look like. Just got them and I love the look! While I don’t plan on taking mine for real off-roading, they should serve me well on snow and gravel roads.
