As is discussed in Part 1 of this thread, the Hyundai Palisade towing harness is starting to arrive for those who ordered months ago, and it IS WORKING. I thought I would start a new thread to alleviate some of the burden of reading through the 16+ pages of the old thread.

As mentioned before, the part that I ordered is S8F67AC800, and I ordered from here:

My order from Hyundai Parts Pro arrived today, and I did a quick-and-dirty install that just involved plugging it in and connecting a ground to see if it works. Here's a quick video of that:

A few notes, I do NOT have a brake controller installed, so the "BK" light was not expected to work. All other lights were working as expected. The dashboard was highlighting an error of "Check Left Trailer Signal", but I never saw any issues with the trailer signal. Perhaps the Curt signal tester I was using isn't drawing enough current relative to a normal light. Regardless of the error - the lights show that things are working!

I will try to complete the install this weekend, and it's clear that this install is different than the Hyundai directions. Things are NOT in the same places. I'll document everything as I go along, but for now, it looks like there's a grommet available for the wiring that's located directly underneath the foam for the jack holder. That's the area I will focus on getting the wiring through. More details to come, but it finally looks like there is a factory-ish solution!

I will note: when I first starting testing the left and right turn signals, I was also hitting the brakes simultaneously. Habit. Regardless - the lights are working ;).

Thanks for the post - very helpful. How long did it take for your harness to arrive once you ordered? Are we talking weeks or months? Thanks again, this is very good news.

Well, I ordered in December and just got it delivered today, so I'm not a good representative as to how things would go if you ordered now. The part was on backorder until last week. I will only state that it was shipped last Wednesday and arrived in Austin, TX today (one week travel time).

Just curious did the harness come with the pigtail for the electronic wired brake controller in the cabin?

I was curious if you tried backing up and seeing if it disables the the collision system in the rear end like everyone was hoping it would. Thanks for all of the info. The other thread took some time to get through so having this one is great

Yes - it did. You can also see this pigtail in the pictures posed by @csayers in this post:

I've not tried that. I'll post back on this topic when I get it fully installed without wires hanging everywhere ;).

I ordered this harness from Canada (the place that tyger23 got it from) on Wednesday. They called me today and the guy said they have 3 week delay
and asked if I wanted to wait. I said 3 weeks would be ok but I don't want to it to turn into months, I know some people waited that long. He said it was different story because they stopped making them in December, now they are being made but they have so many orders that they waiting for delivery from the warehouse so it certainly won't be months.

Does anyone know the part number for a 4-pin harness?
I don’t know of one, but I would be surprised if there is one with the way they designed the harness. It’s incredibly easy to add a 7-pole to 4-pole adapter, though - just plug it in. That’s what I do when I need a 4 or 5 pole.

E Trailer.com has a 4 pin harness #119190 with install video on their web site.....I have their hitch #e45zr mounted on my 2023 telly S ....I have not bought the harness from them but at this point I probably will......Its a little bit of work but it does work and they stand behind that....At this point waiting on KIA and their B S is a waste of time!!!!

MarcusW could you post a link or what to google search?

Looking to cover or replace the KIA emblems on your Telluride? Look no further than right here in our own forum store - where orders are shipped immediately!

TOW HARNESS S8F67AC800 will come long to wait from Canada and I think install Tekonsha 119251 it will be working with CURT 51180 Echo Mobile Electric Trailer Brake Controller?

I think this brakes system works not dependent on this connection. I just want to clarify those who know the answer.

You will still need a 7-way round to plug the Echo Controller into. Since it uses motion it needs to be level to work and you will need a 12V to power it. The Tekonsha 119251 will not give you a dedicated 12V, but (assuming it works well) it does give you a non-spliced way to get a 4-way flat for turn signals. Then get a universal 7-way round socket and run a 12V to an auto resetting breaker near the battery. Since the reverse wire is optional with the 51180 Echo Wireless this should work. This might be a good temporary solution that doesn't cut any wires, but I would still order the S8F67AC800 and replace it all if I were you. When you get the OEM harness, sell your Curt 51180 and get a Curt 51190. Then you don't have to worry about it getting stolen.

Here's what I would do if I had a 2023 Telluride, needed to tow with electronic brakes right away, and was willing to use the Echo Wireless brake controller.

Now:
  • Tekonsha 119251, this will require a wire to the battery with a 15A in-line fuse for 12V power to the 119251
  • Curt 57674
  • To power the Echo:
  • Curt 51180
  • If you want to add a manual override you can get a Curt 51189 button
  • This gets the minimum number of wires to get a brake controller using an Echo and not splicing, but will not get all 7.
Later:
  • remove 12V wire and breaker for 7-way
  • remove Tekonsha 119251 and 12V wire for 4-way
  • Kia/Hyundai S8F67-AC800 (or wait to see if Curt or Tekonsha come out with an aftermarket equivalent for the 2023)
  • Curt 51190
  • The Curt 51189 button can also be used
  • This gets all 7 working and resolves the theft risk of the Echo Wireless at the hitch but all the same benefits of a hidden brake controller.
  • Optionally get something like a Hopkins 37385 which will plug into your 7-way to give you an easy way to convert to either 4-way or 5-way.

Keep all your receipts and if Kia offers a resolution for not having something available you might be able to get reimbursed.

Towed my boat yesterday with 23 wire harness fully installed. Boat is 5 pin not a 7 pin so no trailer brake required. Used a 7 pin to 5 pin adapter so I didn’t need the surge brake lockout. Not sure if it means anything, but Telly did not beep and apply brakes while I was backing up, whereas the previous Curt direct wire setup did. I assume there is some intelligence in the converter box so that it turns off the backup sensors. I also did not need to press the button to turn off the parking sensors, but I noticed I forgot to do that while backing the boat and pressed it anyway. The sudden stopping and beeping is alarming with the non-OEM setup.

have not towed my travel trailer yet, but so far promising that one harness is so far meeting all expectations.

Thats enough for me to know i will be ordering one. Thank you for the update. I have the brake controller so i would assume it shows where to hook up to it in the instructions.

I have Redarc brake controller. Kia does not provide or have a brake controller available for the Telluride. The OEM harness that some of us are receiving for 2023 Tellurides includes the 4 wire pigtail harness that connexts the vehicle to majority of brake controllers is welcome, but the kit does not include a brake controller
