If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my SUV" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your leather interior, please post in the Interior section - and so on... Getting a new job soon that pays mileage. Trying to figure out where I can get the most money for my Telly to put towards the Model Y. I love my Telly but the price of gas is a real issue. My wife has a Model 3 and laughs every time I spend almost 70 a tank each week. I'm thinking the dealer, Carvana, Carmax, Vroom. Any other ideas? Thanks,

All the ones you have mentioned so far are a great start! Definitely would love to see how much you end up getting for it. How many miles on it and what trim is it? Going to be a sad day when you get rid of it. But if the new job pays for mileage they are pretty much going to pay for you to fill up the Telluride from now on. Didn’t Tesla just raise their prices as well? Plus you have to place an order right? What is the wait time….🤔 I think the wife is JELLY you are enjoying your Telluride. 😎😂

Lots of pros and cons of swapping to a model Y.

You'll be giving up

1) Space
2) Better ride
3) Ride Height
4) Assistant button to your phone (carplay or android auto)
5) Better seats
6) Predictable range
7) Better safety features such as the Blind spot monitors and 360 view
8) Ventilated seats

With the Y

1) Performance
2) Easier on the environment
3) Convenient but more frequent charging (range sucks)
4) Better assisted driving system
5) More fun to drive

My wife has gravitated towards the Telluride mostly because it's not as jarring to drive on the roads and the ride height. The ventilated seats are a plus for her.

If you don't have a large family then the Telluride is probably overkill. PHEV Sorento would probably be a good replacement that's good on gas and gives you the range if you want it.

I just hated having to charge the Tesla every other day and If I forgot to charge for whatever reason, the next day is range anxiety city. I just get tired of only getting about 150 miles out of a 270m charge. But since we have both, we have the best of both worlds I guess.

I will keep you guys posted. The Model Y performance is available next month. It's about 65K before taxes. I have the SX White FWD. Did a chrome delete and ceramic tint. 27K miles on it and I baby it. So like new.

Yep like with anything plus and minus. We have 2 teenagers so never use the 3 rd row. Superchargers all over Florida so not too worried about that either. Also it looks like the Teslas continue to hold their value. I think this will come to an end more on the Telly. My wife likes riding in the Telly but not driving it. Says it is so strange to go back to driving a gas vehicle.

Oh you have fwd? Get rid of it. Case closed haha. I actually have an order for a new Y. We're looking to replace our Y. If the numbers work out we'll be able to upgrade with very little out of pocket. The telluride stays. We need the space.

I was able to secure at Model Y Long Range that was a cancelled order. It will be here in 2 weeks. So I am wheeling and dealing with the buying services. So far everyone is low balling at 43K. No way Jose. There isn't a SX in Florida selling for under 50K right now. Worse case I pay it off and sell myself.

What are you looking for in the Model Y that your SX doesn't have?

My company is starting to pay mileage for business. I spend about 500 a month in gas. The model Y is just a fun car to drive. Checks all the boxes. Sporty but room for my stuff and kids.

That's a lot of gas. Charging at home will definitely help with that, but you said your wife drive a model 3? Having a 3 and y just seems redundant. The y's passenger space isn't that much more than the 3 but the cargo area is better mostly because of the hatch versus trunk. Efficiency takes a big hit when you have 4-5 in the Tesla and ride quality isn't even close to the tellurides in my opinion.

Yeah like we discussed. Trade off's. Want to get off the gas pump and the grid. We have Tesla solar too. In Florida with lots of sun. I did love the Telly but also like changing it up now that I can afford to. For so many years I drove the same car and beat it into the ground. It's more of the principal and not being wasteful than making ends meet.

Understandable. It looks like you've done your research so good luck in your search. The Model Y is a great car, don't get me wrong but I sometimes I just feel the cost savings isn't worth skimping out on certain features such as comfort and safety features that are actually intuitive and useful. But like you said, it's FWD so get that thing out of here hahaha.

Yeah every time I have to pull out in traffic fast those front wheels spin out. No traction at all. With values keeping high on Tesla's I can always go back in a couple years if I want to. Then get a newer AWD

At this rate, it might be better to sell off your wife's Model 3 and get something for it while you can after you get the Y. Depending on when you get your Y, it would be a huge improvement over her 3 technology wise.

1) Ryzen Chip
2) New connectivity card for faster data wifi/cellular
3) New interior
4) Lithium Ion battery instead of the lead acid
5) 4460 battery??

There were quite a few minor upgrades that weren't fully publicized but if you were thinking about extending warranty on her Tesla, it might be more worthwhile just to put that money towards a newer model. The car market is making upgrading cars like upgrading phones.

Thanks for the tip. I will look into this. I appreciate it.

Are the new Model Ys that will soon be coming out of the Austin factory, a kind of generation 2 model, i.e., more advances including better battery life? I would love go with the Model Y as well, but I would prefer longer battery range (up to 400 or more) because we go on long trips and often are driving 600-700 miles a day. I might need the Model S for that kind of range. :)
