• Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my SUV" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your leather interior, please post in the Interior section - and so on... 2021 SX-P - AWD - Vibration (caught on Microphone)

Darn! The start of this sounded so hopeful with them having an engineer waiting to meet up. Now it sounds like your job of convincing Kia just became much more difficult should you choose to continue to do so since you weren't able to duplicate the vibration with them along for the ride. Sorry to see the outcome!
I led up to an emotional ending...I have a strategy in mind.

He didn't use a picoscope and I have him recorded on my phone saying he feels the vibration.

I'll keep building my case. It's a chess game now...

Reminds me of the first 5 years of the GMC Acadia; I had on 07 (1st year). That vehicle had numerous issues that GM dug their heels in and were super slow to even admit to a problem. Sunroof drain lines would drain in the cabin, mechanical transmission fails. I could go on.

I would like to drive your car too feel what you feel. Just curious what are your tire pressure’s?

Your in NJ right? More than welcome to stop by and I can check yours out. Or we can meet somewhere in the middle.

Only a 1,000 miles too; it’s a shame really especially since the Palisade has an eerily similar TSB for the same thing

Yeah, Kia isn't going to do jack about my vehicle.

I didn't get lucky like some of the other folks on here.

I have a plan though. I'll get them...

Holy hell...I didn't go through other car manufacturers but Kia is outright shady when it comes to them handling the warranty...

Maybe you've already thought of this, but I think I would bring it to a shop you trust and see if they can find anything to diagnose the issue. If they do, have them take pictures for you along with what the fix is. It might cost a couple hundred bucks in labor, but it would be worth the proof to go back to the dealer and get them to fix the issue...and then have them reimburse you since they wouldn't inspect it in the first place...?

That's a very good idea.

I brought this up during our "investigation" today and the Engineer basically said that a 3rd party report won't matter much to them or change their minds.

Kia seriously doesn't give a F*ck. I'm going to call some lawyers because this dealer and fake engineer have lost their g'damn minds...

Who is diagnosing this without a Picoscope?? I kind of want to get in front of a Superior Court Judge with these clowns against me and just lay down the crap they have put me through.

Sorry you have to go through this, but I'll be interested to hear how the rest of your journey goes... keep us updated!

You can guarantee I'll do that.

Gut tells me they let this die off until they get a letter from an attorney.

Sadly enough they finally reacted to @Austin3000! after he sent them his Lemon Lawn complaint letter via Certified Mail - because guess what that one piece of evidence saying they opened that piece of mail makes it "real" for them.

@Kwim - did you sign an NDA or something? It's not normal seeing you go this quiet!
holidays. while busy with his family. I filled out the documents, everything seemed to be ready. you just need to go to court, register and send. but for now, celebrate christmas and new year.

  • There are some users that are having Vibration issues on their 2021 Tellurides - so far they are all SX Trim - AWDs

So - I listened to the clip and don't hear anything besides the small rattle. Turned the volume all the way up...didn't hear a vibration. As you know I have an SX/P - and I have actually listened for a vibration when I drive it....and nothing.

The question I have is why are only SX trim buyers noticing this? The AWD system in the Telluride is the same for all trims. The only difference is the wheels and tires. If it is the wheels and tires causing a harmonic issue and not the drivetrain - then it could be that nothing is wrong. Just throwing that out there. If it truly were a mechanical issue in the vehicle - then all AWD trims would be affected - not just SX models.

Now - that rattle is another issue all together. That would drive me crazy. One day we had a rattle and I actually pulled over only to find that it was one of the rear seatbelts hitting the side of the vehicle in the third row. Never noticed it with the family in the vehicle because the seatbelt was in use.

To my question as to why only (mostly) SX/P owners are hearing the vibration....chart below is total AWD production by month/trim. What is different about the SX trim that would cause a higher than normal instance of the vibration some owners are hearing? As you can see - there are far more non SX AWD vehicles on the road than SX...yet it is primarily SX owners that complain of the issue.

I'm still following closely to determine if I have the issue in my EX-P AWD with Towing. I haven't driven much at highway speeds, but I have a few times felt vibrations at slower highway speeds (~50-55mph). I felt it most in my right arm that was resting on the center console with my hand on the gearshift, but also a bit throughout my body. It felt more like a harmonic vibration to me than rattling or shaking, but I'm definitely no expert on this topic or cars in general. It is just is too inconsistent and rare for me to say that I have this problem and it doesn't align with the speeds that others are reporting. I also know my highway travel isn't quite "silky smooth" as a few others have reported who don't have any problems. I suspect that my situation is more likely road caused or something else unrelated, but for now I'm continuing to follow closely while I try to rule out the problem that some have reported.

@JerseySXP How far are you from Trenton? I almost want to head out to you to see if you can replicate it with my Telluride since you know exactly what to look for.

Sounds like there is a problem that the SM has to eat the cost of troubleshooting/fixing until there is a TSB that they can bill Kia back to. I’m shocked that they have unsold ones on the lot with the issue, that’s unconscionable.

I have now seen video and heard audio of the issue that JerseySXP is having and I can confirm it is not something I would want to experience. By comparison I immediately jumped in my S FWD for a joy ride and it was a smooth ride at the same speeds and nothing like the vibration I saw/heard. Unfortunately, given the weather this time of year I think it may be hard to test before taking receipt of an AWD but you should try!

I anticipate that Kia dealers don’t want to affect AWD sales until Kia gets the parts and logistics around a potentially expensive fix gets lined up. Some how some defective driveshafts and/or couplers were installed or damaged in transit and it must not be happening as much in S.Korea since Hyundai has acknowledged and resolved the issues on the Palisade. C’Mon Kia! If you are listening, please encourage your dealers to be upfront and honest rather than play games! This is going to be bigger than it has to be!!! Take note of the Palisade nappa headrest mess and find a way to instill confidence that someone is working on a fix!

Those BBB complaints could have been people that were suffering before this safety recall was issued. Kia Recalls 295,000 Cars in U.S. for Engine-Compartment Fire Risk
