• Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my SUV" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your leather interior, please post in the Interior section - and so on... 2020 Telluride AWD rear end jerking thumping and vibrating

Vibration issues do not discriminate any particular make or model.

Well, I'm a little sad because Telly was my first choice to replace my Q7, but after 2 days the reading of this thread (all 52 pages) pushed me to my 2nd choice , VW Atlas Cross Sport (love them big, don't need 7-8 places). That and the fact that I can't predict how this car will behave with the time, in 3-4-5 years. I hope you all enjoy your trucks and be care free, and those in trouble to find the needed help as soon as possible.
I called today a VW dealership to dip a toe in the water and after 1 hour on the phone and couple e-mails I got credit approved by VW finance instant, (online application ), got 1% interest shaved off, winter tires aded for no cost + the 4 all seasons, first 3 months of the lease payed by VW and about 3000 off the MSRP. Tomorrow at 11h00 I'll go sign the papers and pick up the Cross Sport. The best buying experience ever, and even if I love the VW's square brick look, (the interior depresses me ...)I still have a pinch of regret because I didn't get my black on black Night Sky (our Canadian version of Nightfall) Wish you all the best, enjoy your rides!
Check this out: Poll: How satisfied are you with your Telluride?

VW is practically giving these things away... I must wonder why...

So then what do you guys think then:
Common for Mid-Size SUVs with AWD to have "vibrations", or, some of these are being delivered with out-of-balance or faulty Driveshafts.

I really want to drive more Tellurides out there...and have some local NJ folks take mine for a spin but with COVID no one is having a Telly meet up anytime soon.

Hey, if it wasn't for COVID, I would road trip down to you from Ontario for a car swap! It's only a day's drive....

There must be a quality step missing somewhere. Manufacturing and testing of the driveshafts, installation of the driveshafts or test driving at 60-80mph.

Either it’s a small enough issue that does not warrant the need for this testing or somebody in the quality line is slipping and then these cars make it to consumers.

Since Kia is not being that helpful at the moment have you thought of bringing in to a independent mechanic. I had a noise with my truck and it took 3 different places to finally figure out what the noise was. Well worth the 400 dollars to fix it. I know a good shop www.ok4wd.com.

Here's the thing about getting a private mechanic to check out a driveshaft...Kia can easily say hey man it was absolutely FINE the 2 times we looked at it...damn that mechanic investigating it messed that up badly...then what?

You had a noise with your Telluride?

By the way - posted this in my other thread but Kia HQ has concluded that my video/audio sound clip and field investigations conclude that my Telluride is operating under normal circumstances. No Picoscope. No Kia Field Tech in the vehicle...nada - they came to that conclusion with barely any "real" data...

Lawyer time.

While I have been very vocal on how I love my Telluride, I am very unhappy about how they are treating you and other members of this forum for warranty claims. That is not a good thing for the long run for most of us owners. Eventually, we are going to need service and/or warranty work performed. If this is any indication of how KIA is going treat customers, they are short sighted and will lose loyal customers in the long run. Bottom line, when you make a great vehicle, you need to back it with superior service and stand behind that great vehicle.

Thanks man...The funny yet sad thing is @Kwim warned me about potential pitfalls with Kia and I legit got into a pissing match with him...but he wasn't BS'ing at all...he laid out exactly how Kia works once you have an issue that will cost more than "x" amount to fix...it's a complete battle with them.

I'm a reasonable guy too...get a field tech out with a picoscope - put it on a lift to see if the driveshaft visually looks imbalanced...check if the driveshaft weights have come off - they did none of that, absolutely zero...didn't want to come near this issue with a ten foot pole which leads me to believe something bigger is going on here but let the Lawyers work that out at this point.

No not with my Telluride. But you have nothing to lose, Kia said it was normal.

Got it - no what I'm saying is that if I get someone to properly diagnose the Driveshaft Kia can turn around and say that said mechanic or establishment caused the issue.

They are saying the vehicle is operating normally.

I will contact that mechanic as they seem to be well versed in my potential issue. Plus other places I've called said they can't assess a driveshaft 100% without taking it off which Kia will know I did...

Kia will not know you did anything.

Maybe but if they suspect someone has removed the drive shaft that’s an easy win for them and deny the warranty work.

My thoughts exactly but at this point they have denied the warranty work any way.

Pretty wild that Kia won't stand by their Warranty. Have a consultation with a lawyer this AM - let's see what happens!

At this point; you’re better to leave the vehicle as is and let the lawyers do their thing.

Kia is Not doing anything to fix it and claimed it was normal. Oh you had a vibration we did nothing, and you removed the driveshaft and still have the same vibration. Warranty denied, I do not think so. It is like removing your wheel and putting it back on, Kia will not know you did that.

Wheels and tires aren’t covered under a factory warranty like the driveshaft. Point is; any mechanic that knows anything can tell when a factory installed item has been tampered with.

I have to be very careful as they are definitely watching these forums...

I don't trust Kia HQ one bit and yes they are looking to walk away from these sorts of issues - it's their motto.

The possible saving grace I have is that the dealer on my first visit Road Forced balanced the wheels which means he felt something. I have to look at the long game here - no one is touching my Driveshaft unless it's a Kia Dealer.

You are just paranoid. This is how I see it happening. In a few months to a yr Kia will come out with a TSB to fix this problem. If you paid to have the issue fixed before the tsb you will be reimbursed.

That is not how this works - no car manufacturer just reimburses you for stuff...they aren't in the business accepting another invoice from a mechanic and cutting you a check...what if you have a mechanic buddy who works up a nice fat invoice for you to submit? No way in hell that works.

Paranoid? Sure...slightly...you deal with Kia HQ for 5 weeks like I have and I'm sure you would end up the same way - I'm just letting all of you know Kia HQ truly doesn't care about the end buyer. I talked to a lawyer today and he said by far in his law offices the largest number of lawsuits are against Kia...
