• Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my SUV" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your leather interior, please post in the Interior section - and so on... Anyone having issues with their lane keep assist? The green steering wheel lndicator light used to come on while driving in the city- stop and go traffic, as long as the speed was over 35(?). But now it doesn’t come on unless I’m using the cruise control. Service technician said that’s the only way it works, doesn’t work unless cruise is engaged. I call BS, because it used to. Need info if anyone else had/has this issue.

I’ve had my 21 S two weeks and here’s what I know so far: without cruise lane assist makes an audible noise when it senses you are too far to one side. With cruise; the steering wheel moves to keep you centered in the lane. It works all the time just in cruise the vehicle actively tries to keep you centered. No cruise and you get a warning

Come to think about it I do remember when I test drove mine the same thing happened but when I got it. It only comes on when I have cruise on. On my Seltos it still works that way. The LKA and the LFA work together without cruise

Doesn't need cruise control on, also is 40mph or more.

I think the OP said LKA but meant LFA - LFA is the steering wheel (and cruise control). Now that I think about it. The LFA being tied into the SCC make sense but Im sure Ive driven Kias with LFA on without SCC on

I concur with the details above. My '21 EX NE is working as per that document (40MPH minimum, when both lane markers are detected). It does self-correct even without cruise control on, sometimes a bit too late for my liking though. It only audibly beeps (Lane Departure Warning) if it senses I move outside the lane too much.

You may have been thinking about or instructed about the Lane Following Assist feature, which does only engage when cruise control is engaged. This feature keeps you centered in the lane.

In my Stinger, there is no LFA(HDA), LKA has steering control(green steering icon) and works without SCC on. On Telluride, it needs HDA/SCC on in order for steering control(green steering icon) to work. LKA on Telluride will bump(depends on your setting) you in to the lane if you steer off.

Have you tried reading your owners manual; all the acronyms and their uses are listed

OP - original poster.
LKA - lane keep assist
LFA - lane follow assist
SCC - smart cruise control

It's worth taking the time to learn them, like reading through this thread with all the screenshots and explanations. And the owner's manual is a great resource.

Unlikely to get any FUs here but may come across a good number of ISGs and LKAs!
