Anyone buy an extended warranty on the Telluride?

Could of should of didn't, This reminds me of Space book and twatter, everyone better than the other even though those who know them know better. And let me understand, you all are fretting over 146 dollars? Here is a real math question for you. With total due including all fees and taxes was 51,134.74. 48 month loan at 436.77 with a annual percentage rate of 3.25. What was my down payment? Credit Score in top 1% in the United States.
warranty X @ $3,000 vs. the same warranty X @ $1,400..... tough choice, math is for slow people. 🤷‍♂️

Debating if I should buy an extended warranty on my Telluride SX. Not worried as much about the car as I am about all the electronics.

If you bought one, which one and how much? How is the coverage?
I was not aware of this!

Also, what does the 10 year/100,000 miles warranty cover that Kia is always advertising?

Most of us who bought an Extended Warranty did so because there is virtually little coverage for all the high end electronics in the Telluride. And since it is a new model vehicle, with little data to tell us how the car will hold up long term, we opted for the extra coverage. It's a personal choice for everyone. I've never bought an extended warranty on a car until this one. Kind of ironic given it has one of the best basic warranties around for any vehicle! Just peace of mind for me, I guess. I think one electronic repair will easily make the EW purchase worth it.

If you do decide to get one, Kia of Muncie (Indiana) has the best price we've found. Don't have to purchase vehicle from them and it's honored by all Kia dealerships.

$31,500.21 roughly

financing $19,634.53

Thanks for whoever originally pointed us into the direction of Craig at Kia in Muncie. Just hit him up $1647, half of what my dealer was pushing.
I also want to thank for guiding me to Craig. Just signed for the $1647, which is about $500 less then my dealer but Craig's was with no deductible. I think my dealers was $250 per incident.

Yeah it’s the best around for sure

Hi, new owner here. I just bought a SX-P w/towing in Texas, now that local dealerships near me stopped the infuriating business of huge mark-ups. Waited over a year for this practice to stop and still had to buy tint and wheel locks at twice their cost in order to get my Telly... I would like an extended warranty because this car is full of expensive tech/electronics only covered x 36 mos and I plan to keep it for a long time. I was going to purchase the Fidelity warranty Kia of Muncie sells, which is the same company Kia uses for their CPO cars, UNTIL World Car Kia North in San Antonio's service department told me they no longer accept Fidelity's warranty, because they have not been paying their claims! THAT is disturbing, then I saw the 1.5 stars on www.consumeraffairs.com's review page and now I am afraid to spend a bunch on a warranty that may not even be honored by Kia dealerships. Are there other warranty companies you have had reasonable quotes from for an 8 year, 120K warranty/VSC? Does anyone here have the scoop on what is going on with Fidelity and why they wouldn't be paying claims to Kia dealerships?

So a dealer said they wouldn’t accept someone else’s extended warranty because they sell their own......hmmm......

Well if they won't take it, they won't take it! I'd like to be able to get work done at a Kia dealership for some of the electronics should they go bad in the future. I didn't ask the finance guy; we declined their warranty at $2700. I called the service department later and asked directly. They did not know I just bought a Kia, I just told them "I have a Kia with an extended warranty through Fidelity" and asked if they accept it. They said "We used to, but they stopped paying their claims so we no longer take it".

Maybe you should confirm with Craig at Kia of Muncie to see what he knows.

Did you ask them which ones they do accept?

No, because I fibbed and said I already owned a Kia with a Fidelity warranty, so it would have been weird to then ask which ones they do accept. I will call Monday and ask which ones they accept. I had hoped maybe someone on this forum knew of other companies that were readily accepted and not so expensive as the dealer's warranty. I was completely ready to buy a Fidelity warranty from Kia of Muncie until I heard this. I just emailed Craig to ask what he knows, but they may not be aware that Fidelity is not paying claims and that some Kia dealerships are refusing it (this is apparently a recent turn of events). Thanks.

I stopped dealing with World Car Kia North a month ago. Asked them about buying at MSRP without the dealer add ons and the salesman kept give me the run around about it. And Ancira has a almost $7k markup.

Fidelity does not have glowing reviews, but it is the company chosen by Kia. However, dealer has option to not participate in the Kia program. It would be best to call few local Kia dealships to see if any will take Kia warranty. It would be a good idea to call Fidelity as well. Some 3rd party EW companies will reimburse you after you pay the dealer. Maybe Fidelity will do that since it's a Kia dealer not willing to take "Kia" warranty.

They are now selling SX-P w/towing at MSRP plus a $1900 package which includes tint w/lifetime warranty, paint/leather protection (worthless), and wheel locks. 2 of the 3 things I wanted, just paid through the nose for them. They just dropped from a ridiculous $7k “package” last week. They are miserable to work with but they had a dark moss/dune which is what I wanted. I would have driven to Moritz in Dallas area and paid their $898 over MSRP for similar dealer adds if they had what I wanted. That was the best price I could find in TX, but they haven’t gotten one like I wanted in 6+ mos. I’ve waited since these came out for prices to drop but supply has remained limited and it was time for a new car, so I caved. First car I have paid more than a few hundred over INVOICE for, and I hope I don’t regret it later.

I ended up ordering what I wanted from Fort Bend Kia. Just playing the waiting game now.

Let us know what you find out on the extended warranty. My Telly is due in two weeks and I too was considering the plan from Fidelity if my local dealers was over priced. Not sure yet of my local dealers price. Thanks

I’ve called three other Kia service departments in the San Antonio area and also Southwest Kia in Austin, and all say they accept the Fidelity warranty by JM&A. Two of the World Car dealerships said they no longer accept the maintenance plan because they take many months to pay claims, but will take it for repairs/warranty work and say there are no issues with those claims being paid; they usually are given a credit card to bill. World Car Kia North is the only one saying they won’t take it for warranty work OR maintenance. Looks like I’ll be calling Kia of Muncie after all for the service contract.
