Anyone buy an extended warranty on the Telluride?

I’ve called three other Kia service departments in the San Antonio area and also Southwest Kia in Austin, and all say they accept the Fidelity warranty by JM&A. Two of the World Car dealerships said they no longer accept the maintenance plan because they take many months to pay claims, but will take it for repairs/warranty work and say there are no issues with those claims being paid; they usually are given a credit card to bill. World Car Kia North is the only one saying they won’t take it for warranty work OR maintenance. Looks like I’ll be calling Kia of Muncie after all for the service contract.
Good for you for doing your due diligence!

Something doesn’t seem right. What do you mean by “warranty work” vs. “maintenance”? Isn’t EVERYTHING covered by the Basic KIA warranty for at least 3yrs/36,000 miles? Doesn’t the extended warranty only apply after the basic warranty expires?
Sounds like a shady dealer to me but maybe I don’t understand it.

Regular maintenance is not covered on a new Kia... The maintenance agreement pays for things like oil changes and tire rotations. It’s a separate service contract from the extended warranty, AKA extended service contract, and you are correct that that doesn’t kick in until after your new car warranty expires. My understanding is that most electronics are not covered after 36,000 miles. That’s not something Kia really advertises when they talk about their new car warranty, but it’s in the fine print. Kia warranties mechanical parts to five years or 60,000 miles, but I am interested in the extended warranty to cover electronics, mostly, since there are so many in the SX-P. Unless you buy it before 5000 miles, you usually cannot find an extended warranty as long or w/coverage up to 120,000 miles without paying a fortune for it. They are much cheaper to purchase when the car is new.

Thanks so much for the info. I too would be concerned if Kia dealerships didn’t take the Fidelity claims. Sounds like a one off for your dealership.

Very anxious to know about the extended warranty also. I will see what my dealer offers in a few weeks. If not a good deal, I'll call Kia in Muncie.

So Ancira will accept this warranty? Because if that's the case I may need to go the Muncie route aslo

To the person who said that they pay timely on the warranty, and via credit card, I can confirm this is absolutely correct. I work in the payments side that facilitates this process.

Basically, dealerships will not release the vehicle without payment. The vehicle is the lien, therefore, if FWA does not pay pretty much immediately on request, no one is happy, and your vehicle is held hostage.

I just ordered, and am strongly considering the warranty. I currently drive a 17 fusion, and the nav, climate, radio, is almost useless, unless i spend 800+ on the new brain.

Many will never use the warranty, some will use it multiple times over. its a gamble no doubt, by definition, the warranty program entirely must pay out less than it brings in in premiums. But this is the same for auto. How many years have you paid 1k a year for auto insurance, and not use it?

The only extended warranty I bought was for the technology. 10yr/Unlimited miles. Maybe $1,200 for it?
Im also interested in that warranty. If I may ask,, What's the name of the warranty did you get it at the dealership or from somewhere else?

for nearly the same price Muncie will sell you a Platinum warranty

We just bought ours and got the Gold Wrap warranty which seems to extend the bumper to bumper out past the five years. We bought it to cover 10 years/120k miles and paid $1895. We've had issues in years 6-8 with Audis and Toyotas with suspension and electronics so thought it would be worth the cost. They tried to charge us $2800 for it, but since they ripped us off with the LoJack and window etching they cut $1000 off the extended warranty

What is the difference between the gold wrap warranty my dealership mentioned and the platinum through Muncie that this forum mentions?

Deductible and overall cost most likely.

EW Muncie sells is Kia branded warranty covered by Fidelity. Which means you can take it to almost any Kia dealer network. As long as Gold Wrap does the same(as I have not heard of it), go with term/price that fits your needs.

Thanks! Both seem to be the same coverage and deductible, so I'll go with Muncie and save $150. (Looking better, the "Gold Wrap" extended warranty is through First Automotive)

I bought the Platinum extended warranty from KIA Muncie. I paid $1647. If you are interested you can call Craig Sutherland at Muncie and he can set you up

I'm sure someone has posted it in here but I can't find it. What are the details of the 10y/100k platinum package through Muncie? How much is the deductible? Also, is it typically the same price regardless of trim and options?

Thanks

I bought the 10yr/100k platinum warranty through Muncie for $1647 with $0 deductible for my EX trim. I believe it is the same no matter which trim.
