Anyone buy an extended warranty on the Telluride?

Sometimes they pay off. I bought extended warranties for both my Accords (first-party Honda warranties, purchased from dealers with the best prices). The VSA module on my 2013 Accord blew a few months ago. It would’ve cost $1350 to fix, but my warranty (which was in its last year) covered it. The warranty cost me $1100. I beat the house!

I was planning to get an extended warranty for the Telluride, but I discovered my Geico insurance plan has an extended warranty option for a few bucks a month and a $250 deductible per incident. Still thinking about it, but a lot would have to go wrong for me to come out ahead of the Geico plan.
Thanks for the Geico tip. I emailed them to see if electronics were covered and here is their response:

Yes, electronics would be covered by Mechanical Breakdown Insurance (MBI).

MBI coverage protects you from expensive auto repair bills when your car experiences a mechanical failure for up to seven years or 100,000 miles. The only exclusions to this coverage are regular maintenance items, pre-existing conditions, intentional damage, or damage caused by lack of maintenance. The coverage includes a $250 deductible for mechanical repairs per repair visit, and also gives you the benefit of a $50 deductible for glass repair.

This coverage is available on vehicles less than 15 months old with less than 15,000 miles on the odometer. If you have any further questions about this coverage, please visit the following website: Mechanical Breakdown Insurance: Coverage for Car Repairs | GEICO

I just hit my dealers finance guy with the "Muncie Kia does it for this, if you match it sure, if not, I'm all set" I also had the flyer downloaded and forwarded it to them.

Well 2500 to 1478 real quick. I think the value is there for that, at 2500 I think its a much bigger risk.

Great job!! Shows if you put the effort in, you reap the rewards.

So they not only met it but beat it? Where did 1478 come from? Muncie is 1647. Did you show them the old price?

I sent them the old one I guess. They must have called and checked tho because they charged me 1647 I just assumed it was the tax added to the rest. Good enough. Either way I saved based off you guys so thanks!

I spoke to Craig today. Nice guy. I went with the 10 year, 120K mile platinum plan for just over $2K since I plan to keep the Telluride a while. My dealer wanted over $3K for the simple 10/100K plan with a $100 deductible, and after his presentation, I took out and showed him the Muncie pricing ($1,647). He said that they were not selling the same warranty, but seemed surprised when I said its the same Fidelity policy. The price quickly dropped to $2,300. Thanks, but no. I added 20K miles (with no deductible) ultimately for a few hundred less than the dealer's best offer. Thank you all for the heads up! And thank you Muncie Kia!

Before going through calling and asking, has anyone had experience with Greenway family or dealerships and the Fidelity Warranty from JM&A? It's a pretty big auto group with dealerships in multiple states. Thanks Greenway Auto

We did. $1k and extended everything bumper to bumper for 125k miles or 10yrs. ABS system or navigation would set me back that easily
Whom did you buy that warranty from sounds very inexpensive

We are looking into being able to offer an extended warranty for Forum Members on Telluride. Please let me know if anyone is interested? We would like to gauge what interest might be before we go any further. Thank you.
Interested

Bought the extended warranty for $1250 from Kia of Muncie 18 months ago. Anyone know if it is transferrable? Might be selling my Telluride sooner than anticipated.

Here is what my fidelity contract says from the warranty i purchased thru muncie

TRANSFER: YOU may transfer this Service Contract to another owner, but not to another vehicle. To transfer this Service Contract, YOU must mail the following three (3) items to FWS within thirty (30) days of transfer of vehicle ownership: (1) a completed Transfer Form (or a letter containing the name and address of the new owner and YOUR authorization to transfer); (2) a legible copy of the front page of this Service Contract; and (3) a check for $40 payable to FWS, for the transfer fee. This Service Contract may not be transferred to any entity in the business of selling or leasing motor vehicles.

Trading it in or selling to a person directly? Might want to look into getting a prorated refund back. Some offer that based upon how much time/mileage is left.
