Anyone buy an extended warranty on the Telluride?

I'm sure someone has posted it in here but I can't find it. What are the details of the 10y/100k platinum package through Muncie? How much is the deductible? Also, is it typically the same price regardless of trim and options?

If appliances aren't covered, I wouldn't go with that plan . Cancel it if it isn't too late and call Craig at Kia of Muncie. You'll save almost 50%.

The 5-year warranty covers many other things.

I always thought that extended warranties were supposed to extend the factory warranty beyond the year/mileage limited warranty that the manufacturer includes with the sale price, and since Kia’s is already quite extensive and covers the most expensive stuff, why pay another $1000+?

Biggest concern i think is electronics and anything tied to the radio system. That warranty is only 3/36k. From my reading and understanding, a lot of things are tied into and where i think a lot of concern comes in.

I'm good with the radio/infotainment system failing.

As long as engine, transmission and other drivetrain parts are covered, and the air-conditioning, LED headlights, wipers, and heated steering wheel continue to function, I can live without the infotainment screen

Sport Mode, on the other hand, I probably couldn't live without.

Sometimes they pay off. I bought extended warranties for both my Accords (first-party Honda warranties, purchased from dealers with the best prices). The VSA module on my 2013 Accord blew a few months ago. It would’ve cost $1350 to fix, but my warranty (which was in its last year) covered it. The warranty cost me $1100. I beat the house!

I was planning to get an extended warranty for the Telluride, but I discovered my Geico insurance plan has an extended warranty option for a few bucks a month and a $250 deductible per incident. Still thinking about it, but a lot would have to go wrong for me to come out ahead of the Geico plan.

Its always a 50/50. We had a tahoe. I had the GMCC extended warranty on it. Paid little over 1900 for it in 2017. I used a handful of times and added up the amount of the repairs it would have cost me out of pocket. The warranty paid for itself and saved me a couple hundred bucks.

BUT on top of that, when we traded the tahoe in, i called the dealership i originally purchased the extended warranty from and told them i wanted to cancel it due to no longer having it. The extended warranty had almost a year and almost 16k miles left in it until it expired. After i told the rep i needed to cancel she told me based on the amount left on the warranty i would be getting a pro-rated refund. It was just shy of $500. So the couple hundred bucks it saved me out of pocket for the repairs and then the pro-rated refund, it was a good deal.

every situation is different. Not always bad.

Geico extended warranty your referring to is that "Mechanical break down Warranty" if so then electronics are not covered. i have geico and the only warranty they offer is mechanical on new cars and does not cover electronics.

I'm assuming that has more to do with the provider price increase and not just a Muncie markup. If anyone has found a better price for the same plan from a local dealer it would be good to know.

Your dealer may match it. My dealer offered a 120k 10yr for a few hundred more than I paid for mine at Muncie. I couldn't find one cheaper.

I've gotten good mileage out of all the extended warranties I've bought except for the one on my CRV which has never required a repair in 6 years, 90k. But, I have warranty for life on that one and it's not going anywhere so I'm sure something will break on it eventually. I'd bet, if you keep your Kia for 5-7 years, you're going to get your money's worth out of a $1500 ext warranty.

I bought mine through my credit union I financed with 120K 10yr and GAP for roughly $1500.
