Kia Motors America suffers ransomware attack, $20 million ransom
Kia Motors America has suffered a ransomware attack by the DoppelPaymer gang, demanding $20 million for a decryptor and not to leak stolen data.www.bleepingcomputer.com
It's a confirmed Ransomware attack. It's really ugly stuff. I'm guessing they will pay the ransom, and have everything back online within a few days. If not, it could take significantly longer to restore from backups. Could be weeks before everything is back online if they go that route.
We picked ours up on Saturday the 13th (first day of the outage), and the dealer systems were down, as was UVO. They still let us pick it up, they just reverted to analog / paper processing. Can you imagine you get a call from your dealer saying your Telluride arrived but can't be picked up due to the outage. Damn I'd be pissed!
And as KIA continues to stick it to us, my comment stands also.My comment stands.
My second year and five days later still no working. I have two 2020 Kia'sMy 1st free year ends on the 28th. Now I might need some sort of “incentive” to resubscribe.
It's down for Kia Motors, not the hackers.I read that kia's entire network is down
I agree, Kia should have sent someone out to your front door to let you know they have been hacked and everything has gone to hell there. My bitch is with the design. And as KIA continues to stick it to us, my comment stands also.
I don't know what your problem is with me as I have been trying to agree with you from your first post. This is the last I will comment on this subject.I agree, Kia should have sent someone out to your front door to let you know they have been hacked and everything has gone to hell there. My bitch is with the design.
Does this hack have the ability to brick all Kia vehicles connected to UVO if they don't comply?
