It's a confirmed Ransomware attack. It's really ugly stuff. I'm guessing they will pay the ransom, and have everything back online within a few days. If not, it could take significantly longer to restore from backups. Could be weeks before everything is back online if they go that route.

Understand that this was a targeted hack that encrypts all of Kia's systems and holds the decryption key for ransom until the company pays millions of dollars to regain access to their systems. So it's not that Kia "doesn't care" that we can't access UVO or that financing is down. A malicious group is holding their entire IT infrastructure hostage in a cyber terrorism attack. Their only options are to pay the ransom, or decide to not negotiate with terrorists and begin the lengthy and complicated process of trying to rebuild systems and restore others from last backup. This has happened under the radar to hundreds of fortune 500 companies over the past several years. It's not necessarily negligence by Kia that caused this. Many times, all it takes is for one employee in a 50,000 employee company to open a link in a phishing email and enter their username and password.

Can you imagine you get a call from your dealer saying your Telluride arrived but can't be picked up due to the outage. Damn I'd be pissed!

We picked ours up on Saturday the 13th (first day of the outage), and the dealer systems were down, as was UVO. They still let us pick it up, they just reverted to analog / paper processing.

Further news that I have found....indicates that it may be a "ransom software hack" into the corporate servers. We who depend upon the UVO app to remote start are certainly being "hurt", but KIA itself is practically strangled......dealerships and the necessary parts, warranty and vehicle ordering process is all down.

Possible....but the joke is gonna be on them since UVO was barely responsive when it was up and running.
