• Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my SUV" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your leather interior, please post in the Interior section - and so on... UVO (Kia Access App) not working?

🤖 AI Summary

looks like it’s beginning to get some coverage.

Calling the Kia finance number also results in a pre-recorded message stating that the self-service option is not available due to scheduled maintenance.

See - that right there is reason to be ticked! It is NOT scheduled maintenance and their voice message should not say that it is. Sorry, but no excuse for that.

One Twitter user shared that they could not pick up their car due to a ransomware attack taking down Kia's systems.

That would suck. It's unconfirmed, but man, if (if) true - the FBI would be involved.

No way. Put aside the fact that a catastrophic failure during an update would not cause this long of an outage due to a host of standard protections and controls, protections which are mandated for a public company to have in place.

But the key here is that multiple (all?) of Kia’s systems are impacted. I don’t see another explanation at this point.

Clearly the controls which should be in place, when properly implemented, should protect against ransomware as well (or at least restore back to a point prior to infection) but we know from other companies in the news that this is not always the case. Bottom line is that I wouldn’t want to be working IT at the moment for KIA.

ummmm....maybe catastrophic failure means different from where you're from....but this event sure seems like it.

Maybe it’s a default message if system goes down... and since they(Kia) are locked out they cannot post messages on any platform
Let me get this straight. Kdealer, KFOS, Kia Finance etc are all down?

If so are any orders going in or pick-ups happening? Is the factory even operational as I assume their computers could be affected as well...can you say this may hit their bottom line...

Point being that even a catastrophic failure during a deployment is planned for and would typically be rolled back with somewhat minimal downtime.

Now if you are arguing that a successful ransomware attack is also a catastrophic failure of the IT dept, I won’t disagree either but that would not be part of a planned upgrade/deployment. But again, we are talking about multiple systems here, so it’s safe to say this wasn’t planned regardless of what KIA claims.

I hope we are seeing default messages of “planned maintenance” due to the fact they are locked out of systems and not an intentional effort to mislead their customers. Time should tell.

let’s wait 4 hours and see what they’re going to do !
even if it’s cyber or ransomware attack the backup server should be ON Immediately

Not necessarily.

A sophisticated ransomware attack can literally lock Kia out of multiple platforms - can't start a backup if you can't get in.

All this while in a Ice Storm with no running water and lucky to have electricity.8306FA23-3D6F-4AC0-B7FC-007F14F6F417.webp

Definitely agree that there are work arounds, but three days without access, or even communication of an issue is absurd. I'm probably just venting out the week of no sleep though :)

Instructions unclear. I have a 2020 EX, and was under the impression the only way I could remote start was with the app. I'd LOVE to be proven wrong here!
I have a 2020 S model and there is nothing on the key fob to start my vehicle, I can only use the app and the damn app has been down for 5 days and have no idea when it will be working again!

Can you imagine you get a call from your dealer saying your Telluride arrived but can't be picked up due to the outage. Damn I'd be pissed!

This is why remote start by app only, sucks!!! Kia please give it to us!!!
They have given it to us! ........ B.O.H.I.C.A.

Will be interesting to see if the trip date from drives "not logged" during the outage show up. Or maybe they are being logged and this is just the UI that is down.
So annoying, it's below zero and I can't even remote start. This app bs is for the birds.....KIA better think of some type of reimbursement or install a remote start into my vehicle.
