Failcat Question

Hi first post for me. Awesome information on this board! I’m shopping for an SX in the NYC metro area and I wanted to ask how the failcat “Created” date relates to the dealership’s website inventory page?

Once the car goes into production(AKA VIN created/failcat), it could take 2-6 weeks to show up at dealer lot. Dealer has the option(read somewhere that they are encouraged) to advertise as "in-stock" and sell the car if it's not spoken for already.
