• Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my SUV" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your leather interior, please post in the Interior section - and so on... I know it's a little thing, but I really don't like the new KIA emblem.....looks like KU, or KN.....I guess I'm just an old stick in the mud
Same here @Joep66,

Some of us will be begging for the 2020/2021 logo back.

All of y'all who are rebadging, please send y'all's discarded, unloved, but awesome to some, OEM KIA badges to my address in Camarillo or Florida or South Dakota or wherever I end up and I'll make sure @Joep66 and everyone else who needs to rebadge the awful 2022/2023 badge designs gets the old logo back.

Kia Design Irvine California, what were you thinking? Tom Kearns better not have been involved in this disaster of a logo.. :)

If they take the Traditional Shifter from Telly, I'm out.
Get used to it… nearly everything is electronically controlled anyway, and most manufacturers are moving to something like this.

The good news is the Kia/Genesis dial shifter is actually pretty well designed. Twist to the right for drive. Twist to the left for reverse. Push the button on the top for park. There is no confusion, you could use it with your eyes closed. It’s significantly more intuitive than dials on FCA products or Ford products.

Even the buttons on modern Hyundais are not bad. Familiarize yourself with it for two minutes and you’re set. Our Palisade is my wife’s daily driver but every once in a while I will drive it briefly and I do not even think about shifting. I just push the buttons. Don’t even need to look. And I’m used to traditional shifters on my two cars that I actually drive normally.

Then again, I actually kind of liked the monostable electronic gearshift on my previous daily driver, a 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee Summit. So maybe I’m more open minded than most. Those vehicles got recalled because idiots couldn’t figure out if they were in park or not when they got out of the car. But it really wasn’t a difficult shifter to understand. And again, something you could use without looking at after a very short familiarization.

Anyway, if you wholesale eliminate vehicles from your shopping list based on gearshift design, your list is going to get shorter and shorter and shorter… Either that, or you’ll just have to enjoy your Telluride forever. Which is feasible, it’s an amazing vehicle!

@bruesjoh04,

Ever drive with your left hand at 11 or 12-o'clock and your right hand resting on the shifter with your right elbow comfortably resting on the center storage elbow pad?

That's me like 60-70% of the time. Yes I know it's not a standard transmission, but it's a natural and comfortable driving position for me.

I'd do more 10 and 2 driving but I hate the nubs on the steering wheel.

I'm considering removing them so that the top half of the steering wheel has consistent diameter the whole way around.

If it doesn't destroy any internal wiring or compromise the structural integrity of the wheel, I can simply install a threaded screw insert so that I can screw-in and unscrew polymer finger stops if I really need to index my hands on the wheel, but most of the time, the flared-out nubs where I'd normally put my hands on the wheel don't really work the best for me.

I get it. It helps some people index their hands/fingers on the wheel but I'm not a fan. Just my personal opinion/driving style.

You know; anymore the shifter doesn’t physically move the transmission. It’s all electrical. While I personally don’t like push button or knob turning gear selectors; not having a traditional shifter isn’t a deal breaker

Interesting - Personal taste, I do not like that new logo on the steering wheel. Doesn't look changeable either.
Nope seems like there going the route of not wanting people to change the badges out or to de badge the Kia.

Also, on my trip to the mountains, the shifter came into play.

As you know, slippery icy/snowy roads with OEM Michelin Primacy Tour AW tires make braking and hard braking a challenge, especially on even gentle downhill grades.

Engine braking still works great. I put the shifter into "manual shifting" and varied between 3rd and 2nd and 1st without having to look down.

No hill descent mode? No problem. Just downshift to the appropriate gear using the Traditional Shifter. Left then up or down according to your desired level of downhill engine braking :)

Kept my eyes on the road the whole time. AWD Snow Mode and LOCK did their jobs and if I needed to slow down on Pioneer Trail near South Lake Tahoe and didn't want to brake, I just downshifted and engine braked, keeping the wheels rolling and my Telly not going sideways or diagonal.

Anyway, I love traditional shifters and when Kia eventually removes it, I'm out. I know most of you will be perfectly fine with the rotary dials and all that but I'm in love with shifters and won't change my opinion on at least that subject :)

These models with non-traditional shifters (e.g., the Palisade) all have paddles on the steering wheel. Don’t even have to take your hands off the wheel to downshift! 😉

I don’t care either way, and of course everyone is entitled to their own opinions.

You’ll have to buy a second telluride and keep in parked until many many years down the road when you need a new vehicle then you’ll have a brand new telluride with the traditional shifter to keep on driving!!

My pilot had a different sort of shifter. I liked it because reverse was intuitive. I got use to it, but have also gotten use to the Telluride's traditional shifter. Honestly, the thing I struggle most with is looking at my HUD for my speed rather than the instrument cluster. Only had the car a few weeks, so I'm sure I'll get use to all the buttons and stuff over time.

Either that, or you’ll just have to enjoy your Telluride fore
Sounds like a plan to me!! I HATE (not an understatement) electronic shifters!

Exactly! It was just one more thing that decided me over the Palisade. BTW, I loved the Fawlty Towers series!! (showing my age here )

I haven't ready all the posts in this thread (nor will I) but I saw a comment on a youtube video today that someone said they heard a rumor that the 2022 would have a dashcam like feature similar to Tesla.

Has anyone heard anything about that?

Kia has released nothing....everything out there is just people wish lists or what they think. No hard facts yet.

That's what I figured, just wanted to make sure that it wasn't something that has been mentioned yet.

ya we are all waiting patiently 😂 to hear the official release date and what’s gonna change if anything. Getting closer to expected summer release date so keep checking.
