If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my SUV" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your leather interior, please post in the Interior section - and so on... I posted this in my Northern Utah thread, but got no response. Planning on ordering today from a dealer that does a lot of Telluride volume in Utah. I spoke over the phone with two salesman who said that they do not require a deposit to place an order. They told me that they need a photo copy of my ID, as well as a credit card number or a copy of a signed blank check (no way), but that there was no obligation to purchase the car when it comes in. Is this strange?
What paperwork should I expect to receive from the dealership when I place an order? The salesman told me they charge MSRP as long as you finance through their department (but I can use my local credit union).
Looks like this dealership has had 76 cars entered into failcat this year, of which 22 have been SX-P models (what I want).
I’ve never done this before, don’t want to get screwed out of money or a fake order that costs me time. Not very good at playing games.

High volume dealers often don’t require deposits if their numbers are good for Telluride sales as well as saying purchase is not required if you back out. These dealers know that buyers will sometimes put in multiple orders and then buy the first one that shows up. It appears by their Failcat numbers that they are legit and have experience with the Telluride. Communicate your concerns with them and be upfront and honest.

I have a similar situation here in the Midwest. Placed my order at MSRP at the end of October with nothing down, just a photo ID and received no paper work. I don't recall if I had to give them a CC #. Sales manager followed up with an email a few days later that they submitted my order request. received notification end of January that Kia accepted my order. Less that 2 weeks later they foreworded me the build schedule. Parts are to start arriving any day. However nothing on failcat as of yet nor have they given a VIN number. So far so good.

Sounds good! Glad to hear that other dealers are doing it this way. It makes total sense, not like they’re going to get stuck with something they can’t sell.
I placed the order at MSRP just a few minutes ago!! White SX-P with Dune Brown and Nightfall. 4-6 month lead time. Can’t wait!

Try to get something in writing. I got the "we sell at MSRP" spiel which they conveniently forgot to mention to mandatory dealer add-ons which added about 5K to the price. You don't want to wait that length of time only to be hit with those add-ons. If it's Young in Layton, that is their game......

Hmmm, I put a 500$ deposit with young in layton last August, still waiting. Do they add on shit with the manufacturer or after it arrives? I just wanted an SX with tow package, what should I expect and any tips?

So I called every Kia dealer in the state. Young Kia told me that they require an accessory package to be purchased, things like a rock deflector and clear bra. Anyway it runs $2-3k. He told me it was mandatory. Better than Wasatch Front Kia, who told me upfront that a SX would be $4,000 above MSRP. Findlay in St George requires a “paint and interior protection package” that runs $1495. You know it’s a BS thing they’re pushing when they know all the details about the protection package but don’t know as much as I do about the car.
I went with Jerry Seiner, they assured me that there would me nothing on top of MSRP, just $389 doc fee and a $299 “security package”. Not thrilled with that but I can deal with it. Haven’t seen it in writing, but I intend to in the next week or so.

After it arrives. It's been a over a year but I am assuming that they are doing the same thing. Call and find out if they require any dealer add-ons when it arrives.

There are too many dealers mentioned on here who will sell you a car at MSRP and no additional crap. Some don't even charge a Doc fee. I ordered out of state at MSRP. Everything was documented. I got a sales contract detailing everything. I got a copy of the order going into Kia. I got a weekly update after it was submitted to Kia. Granted, most weeks was no news. I got the build date as soon as the dealer got it. I also got it delivered to my front door at no additional transportation fee. So yes, there is a way to get what you want at a reasonable price. BTW I also received my car 10 weeks after I ordered.

Where did you get yours?

I bought through NowCar in Miami. Eveything was done on line though I had a phone no but never used it. I dealt with Nahaley and she was great.
Who did you finance/lease with if you don’t mind answering... Trying to see who they use for financial paperwork.

financing is up to you. I elected to go with Kia Finance but it was my choice. I kinda got the feeling through the NowCar website their rates would be higher but once I connected with Nathaly I simply told her who I wanted and she arranged everything. I also felt since I was in Indiana and the dealer was in Florida it might be easier to go with Kia. Don't know that to be true but.....

Thanks for the info.

Also wondering when you actually did the financial paperwork? Right at the time of order or closer to delivery date? I would rather have a higher credit score a few months down the line as I'm putting large chunks of money towards my credit cards.

I put down a deposit wioth NowCar last night so curious to the buiying process and how different it is from a traditional dealer.

I was going through a refinance on my home so I was in same boat. They don't run your credit until just before or when car comes in. It should work out well for you. As far as the buying process, its pretty much the same except everything is done via email. You can call if you wish but I never did. Nathaly was very good about answering my questions promptly via email. There will be no upselling. There will no additional crap to deal with. Also there is no negotiation. If you happen to want a car that they may have in stock then perhaps they will offer a small discount?? You will be asked to put a 5% deposit on your car if they order it for you. There may be a short time line on this as they get a allocation and if you are high enough on their list you may only a few days to get them the deposit. As I recall, this is non refundable once the car goes into production. They will probably not even run you initial deposit you just placed but they will the 5%. Of course that is applied to price of car.
I think you will be pleased with the process. I was. It's pretty painless.

Thanks again for all the much needed info.

I submitted a credit app through their website before putting down the initial $500 deposit. Wonder if they’ll do a new one when time gets closer...

Don't know. That's something to ask Nathaly when she contacts you.
