Trying to lock car with handle button but only beeps?

Good morning all!

When I try to lock my Telluride with the button on the handle, it only beeps but does not lock. It will only lock if I push the button on the FOB. Does anyone know why it is doing this? We have a 2021 Telluride S. Thanks in advance!

Is your second key in the car? It won't lock if it is as a precaution.

Yeah, sounds like either the extra key is in it or another safety feature preventing locking.... Rear seat monitor, maybe?

Oh my goodness. Thank you so much! I thought we lost our other key. Now I know I need to go hunting IN the Telluride for it!

You just saved me several hundred dollars!!!

Thank you for replying!! I didn't realize the car would do this. At least now I know to look in all the nooks n' crannies for our "lost" key! You both saved us a lot of money. Truly appreciated!

Incorrect.

It will lock the car via key fob if a second key is in the car.
It will not lock the car via door handle button if a second key is in the car.
