• Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my SUV" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your leather interior, please post in the Interior section - and so on... One of my biggest complaints (which I have very few, this thing is awesome) with our Telluride was the matte black body molding that is popular on SUVs/crossovers nowadays. Compared to a vehicle like the Volvo XC90 which has body matched paint all around, the matte black plastic on the Telluride really detracted from the exterior look for me. Inspired by a picture floating around the forums of a lowered Telluride with body paint matched molding, I decided to get it done. A local body and paint shop, SOS Customz, did the work and it came out fantastic. Total cost was $1500 and 5 days for a spotless, professional job.

The front and side molding are not as noticeable to me since the trim is so thin. But the back really looks OEM.

Looks really good 👍

Very cool. Nice touch :)

$1500. Totally worth it in my opinion. I probably would have even paid more if quotes were higher.

You have no idea how long I’ve looked for pics of a telluride like this. It looks so much better without all that cheap black plastic! 100% improvement over stock.

Now if only I could find someone in Houston to do this same job for about the same price 🤔

painted to match plastic looks great, thanks for posting the pics.

Looks excellent- really like the look, and the price! Appreciate how glossy it is. Definitely looks OEM.

I have a black SX and I’ll be getting mine painted at the beginning of April got a price of $1,200 to get it done. Trim and both bumpers color matched and ceramic coated. One shop had the balls to quote me $4000 and only paint it gloss black. Color matched would have been over $5000.
I ordered a nightfall grill also that will be here around then too, I didn’t want to pay 1200 extra for the nightfall package since I would swap out the wheels anyway.

Interested to see how the all black turns out. Post pics when finished!

That does look really nice. I think the black plastic is a common trend due to the fact it will hide stone chips and tar during normal driving wear and tear.

The body color plastic looks very nice though, interested to see how it holds up.

I am a neat freak and the fact that my other cars have painted area's that wrap down so far and then get blasted by debri made me thankful for how they finished the Telly. I like the rugged look on how they did it and would be interested how these painted area's hold up after a few years.

Am I the only one that doesn't like the look of this?

Makes it look lower to the ground...minivan-ish...obviously we can't agree on everything but I prefer the matte black trim.

Not for me either, I think they kind of did this with the Palisade which I am not crazy about.

I think the owner did a nice job on making their Telly unique - I'm the same way and some of my modifications people don't like. Everyone has different tastes but I agree that this painting of the trim is not for me either.

I like the black trim as it offsets the Everlasting Silver really nice and adds protection against scrapes here in the Midwest from the extreme changes in weather.

Everyone has their preferrences, and it does look nice...but now it also looks like other SUVs on the market. Again, just my opinion...and as you know we all have them.

I like the contrast of the black molding on certain colors, like the white for example. But the other colors look really good with full body color. I disagree about the paint matched molding looking like other SUVs. Look at other competitors in the Telluride's class, as well as above and below (Highlander, Pilot, Explorer, etc.) ... black plastic molding everywhere.

The way I thought of it. Kia is trying to compete and make it look like a high end SUV and with the prestige package it’s super plush. And the molding doesn’t give it the high end look An OEM option for body match would be ideal
