If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my SUV" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your leather interior, please post in the Interior section - and so on... 2021 telluride rear entertainment system option?

🤖 AI Summary

No AI summary has been generated for this thread yet.
I am considering buying a Telluride off a lot that has the rear entertainment option. Not something I would choose on my own, but this model has everything else I want. Anyone know if you're able to remove them for day-to-day driving and reinstall every now and then (i.e., long road trips), or is removing them a permanent decision? If you do remove them, am I understanding correctly that there will be a wire coming from the seat? Any chance anyone has pictures?? Any input is appreciated!
I don’t exactly know the answer but I do not think it would be easy. Because of all the issues I am having mine removed. I LOVE my telluride but DO NOT get the RES. Instead buy some nice tablets you can hook to the headrests. There is a USB about a foot down from the headrest so that is probably what we will do. I attached the base pics so you could see.

Thank you so much for your input! Your pictures are very helpful. I am not excited about the RES, but it seems I've found a unicorn on the lot so probably makes sense to buy with the RES and take them off.

You should see if the dealership will take them back and give you a credit towards some different accessories that you actually want.tell them you’ll purchase the telluride if they do that. Judging by the poor reviews of this system if you take off, it probably would be hard to sell privately. If not, we’ll you’ll still love the telluride despite the poor rear entertainment system
And if it’s got exactly what you want don’t delay as others are waiting 6-8 months for theirs.

Hey, I just bought my 2021 Telluride SX Prestige Dark Moss Nightfall edition with Dune Brown leather seats and Rear Entertainment System. At first, I was a bit put off by the RES. I thought I had made a BIG Mistake. Now, I am in love with the RES. I can connect my Apple TV and Fire-stick into the monitors. I can stream movies, YouTube, Netflix, Disney, Amazon prime, and PLUTO TV to watch regular TV. I use my phone as a hotspot to get connected online. My daughter loves having “TV’s” in the car. I was able to neatly stuck away the cords. Use the house plug in car for power. It’s better than having a clunky DVD in the car any day.

But you made what amounts to a very clunky iPad and Fire Tablet for more money than two tablets. The tablets will let you download locally. I’m glad you like them.

I did the same thing for $280 for two slim DVD players with HDMI inputs and they came with both 12V and 120V adapters. (Ref. Rear Entertainment (DVD) question) We connected a Nintendo Switch to it for long trips for a few trips. But I now have the screens removed and just prefer downloading movies and playing them on the tablet. With only wire required, charging cable when needed.

Just thought I would share an update of what rear entertainment in the Telluride actually looks like! It's not too bad, was expecting worse given that you can't find anything on the internet about them! They are removable and you can tuck the one wire used to connect it into the seat. They operate with an amazon fire stick. Going to pick ours up this afternoon! These Telly's are so hard to come by... we normally wouldn't get rear entertainment but we wanted all the other features this one had and it would have been months of waiting to build out what was already in this one.... Maybe the rear entertainment will be something handy... first time for everything!
How do you like it now? Does it pop off easily. I’m thinking I’d only use on trips.

Just saw on the kia build site they have updated it for the 2021

The option that caught my eye was the rear entertainment system for $1500. This is the first time I have heard of it. Does anyone have more info on it?
I would highly suggest you do some hard researching in it and actually play with it before purchasing. I just posted about the entertainment system. I purchased one about two months ago and am fighting with Kia and the dealership to have it repaired, replaced or simply removed and refund me my money. It is a crap system. You can search my post under MHarrell.

We thought this was going to be a great system for the kids but this RSE is worthless without an android phone or tablet. we just took delivery on a 2021 SX nightfall yesterday and i've spent 2-3 hours trying to get a video to play with no luck. I think i'm fairly savvy with stuff like this but in this instance, it's pretty painful. You would think for a 2K add, the interface would be compatible with apple and android at a minimum.

@Dre1911 did the USB on the RES power the Firestick? Or do you have to run it to the 110 outlet?

How did you remove them? I just got a car with them installed and looking at removing them....

our 2021 SX has the rear seat entertainment system and it's pretty much useless unless you have an android phone or android tablet capable of screen sharing. it's not integrated into the front system at all so you also have to sync headphones for sound. you can use hdmi adapters for apple products but that kind of defeats the convenience in my opinion. If I had the choice again, i'd just but a couple tablets for the kids and call it good.

Another question related to this, if you remove the screens does it affect the manufacturer warranty ?

So does anybody have this rear Entertainment System who has android-based devices and can speak to its usability?

we like them. Slightly annoyed that you can't download apps or stream or download movies but my husband loads movies on to a USB and it has been great for long trips. He easily takes them off and we only use them for road trips

How does he remove them? Does he need to open the back of the front seat up in order to do it?

Very easy. 4 screws. no you don't need to remove the back of the front seat, but we do tuck the wires in to the plastic backs of the front seats

How do the wires come out of the screen? At least the ones I saw seemed to not have a plug but go directly into the screen.

It unplugs really easily-- just an ethernet-type looking cable.
