This poll assumes no significant updates(other than logo), because obviously the value changes significantly depending on the updates.
Agreed but the Palisade is functionally the same car except for looks. There is already a 2 - 3K price difference since Palisade can be had for below MSRP. If Kia raises the price another $1500 (as some have speculated) without adding measurable features to justify the increase you may very well see an exodus of customers toward the other grossly under priced SUV.The telluride is grossly under priced. While it is not a luxury automobile it has many of the features that cars in the luxury category have. If you did nothing more than switch the Kia branding to Acura or Audi or some other solid luxury make, the fully loaded SX AWD would sell for at least 10k-15k more.
Palisade near us are only going for ~500 below MSRP now. This made the decision to buy the Telluride easier. If they were going ~$3000 below MSRP we might have considered it. For the features that were must have for us, the Palisade build was much more expensive.Agreed but the Palisade is functionally the same car except for looks. I am sure Palisade deals vary by location. Here in Charlotte, NC you can get a Palisade 1K below MSRP with minimal negotiating. The Telluride we are buying has an MSRP of $50,005 whereas the closest comparable Calligraphy is $47,860. Factor in the 1K savings and you are left with price difference of $3,145. Like mentioned previously if one were to add $1500 based on price increase conjecture from this forum it grows to a price difference of ~$4,500. That coupled with waiting 2 - 7 months on a custom ordered MSRP Telluride versus leaving the Hyundai dealership day of with a new SUV could be detrimental to long term sales. Of course this is all hypothetical until we see how substantial of a price increase Kia announces for 2022.
Our Telluride MSRP is $41,610. To get our desired features on a Palisade we'd have to get an SEL AWD Premium bringing it to $44,185. I think it all depends on which options matter to you. Truthfully, one look at the "OEM" hitch on the Palisade turned me off quicker than the price difference.I am sure Palisade prices vary by location. Do I want a Palisade... absolutely not. I love the look of the Telluride as well as the ability to go Nightfall. That being said, if my June delivery were to roll into 2022 due to factory shortages and Kia raises the price by more than $750 I will certainly re-evaluate both vehicles.
The reason I used the Telly top trim / fully loaded as an example is because at that level you are getting a good number of lifetime luxury SUV / Crossover owners that are “dropping down” to grab the Telluride. For many of those folks price is commonly a very distant third to features and looks. My point is that these folks would be willing to both pay significantly more AND wait significantly longer for the Telly - I highly doubt many lifetime luxury SUV owners are dropping down for the Palisade. It may have great features but it is not a good looking car especially the front end.Agreed but the Palisade is functionally the same car except for looks. Yes, well I think we know what their answer would be to this poll so that's not really the target population for this survey. The reason I used the Telly top trim / fully loaded as an example is because at that level you are getting a good number of lifetime luxury SUV / Crossover owners that are “dropping down” to grab the Telluride. But the Palisade is not nearly as nice looking as a Telluride. Also, not a big fan of no shifter.Agreed but the Palisade is functionally the same car except for looks. This poll was related to the expected MSRP increaseI'm not sure I understand the question.
I wouldn't pay above MSRP if that's what you agreed to originally. It Kia increases the MSRP, I'd pay the new MSRP and not a penny more above it...
If your asking how much more I might be willing to pay if they increase the MSRP for 2022... me personally might go $1500 or so without thinking much about it. If MSRP goes up $2000 or more I'd be asking the dealer to sell it below MSRP, something close to the 2021 MSRP.
Yep my second post points out the look of the Telluride is much nicer and would much rather have that vehicle. But the Palisade is not nearly as nice looking as a Telluride. Also, not a big fan of no shifter.
I think interested 2021 telluride customers will stick with Telluride in 2022 and pay a few dollars more for a newer model. I know I would.
I don't think dealers have much input into the MSRP. Especially with how close we are to the 2022's being released. I'm sure that's already been decided. If this was a poll about how much of a markup over MSRP someone would accept, that would be different. Then again, if that was the poll, the results would also be very different considering the hoops and months of waiting people on this forum have gone through just to get MSRP without a markup. Why would many of you provide damning, free customer price sensitivity data to dealers? I should have seen “don’t touch my msrp” for every single reply. LOL!
Yes it's crazy how things have changed. Before this experience you would have had a hard time convincing me I'd ever pay MSRP for any car. I actually was kind of disappointed to not have the haggling experience that I'm used to. Some people don't like it, but it's one of my favorite things about buying a car.My 2021 SX is the first car I have ever paid MSRP for in my 5-+ years of buying cars. (Actually I paid $400 under MSRP since I got the Military discount). Even when I bought my Corvette I paid $3000 UNDER MSRP! I would not pay over MSRP for a car - ever.
