• Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my SUV" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your leather interior, please post in the Interior section - and so on... April 2021 Infotainment Update?

I haven't updated our SX since Dec 2020 when we took delivery. For those that have done multiple updates, would you suggest not updating based of what the changes have been/are currently?

I think the people complaining about it are the ones who loved the three panel. I never used that. Besides the purple theme, it's really not that much different. There are some nice new features and they still haven't addressed some of the mind bogglingly stupid shortcomings.

I use the home screen more now than I ever did the 3 panel. The information flows better imo on the new home screen. Really doesn't function any differently for me.

Just the fact that the new update has a very noticable lag is reason enough not to update. Really sucks the llamas ass.

Are other people who have updated noticing this lag as well? Trying to determine if it is a widespread issue.

I haven’t noticed any lag compared to what I was using before, v14.5.

In regards to the 3 widget home screen, I haven’t really missed it. Used to use map/radio/weather. Finding I am perfectly fine with map screen and weather widget. Because weather widget stopped working for me until I updated to v15, so with the old 3 widget home all I was looking at was exterior temp with no forecast info.

I'm in same boat. Picked up car from Muncie on Halloween. Have not been interested in update since reading forum, so haven't switched. I let Sirius XM expire, never been a fan. Listen to talk radio or play YouTube music. Would like to hear if update is worth it. I guess I lose Android Auto at 1 year, when UVO subscription expires. Not really interested in paying for that either. Interested in opinions.

The only time I notice any lag is going into my media list, definitely takes longer than the original version. Everything else works just as quickly.

What do you mean? Apple CarPlay and Android Auto functionality are in no way tied to UVO.

Letting UVO lapse will not remove your ability to connect your phone to your infotainment system. It will only remove your ability to access the phone app and use remote functions or other things available in the app (and may or may not affect whether or not you get weather data on versions that use connected services for weather rather than HD radio).

There should be more than enough information in this thread and others to make a decision.

It all depends on what you want. Do you want updated map information? Are you tied to classic interface elements? What aspects of the system do you use most frequently?

I have updated from 13.5 (what my Telluride shipped with in fall 2019) to 14.0, to 14.5, to 14.10, and now to 15.0.

They have all been smooth updates, the only hiccup was going from 14.5 > 14.10, which introduced the driver profiles. That meant my radio presets and navigation destinations were in the guest profile. Fortunately I don’t use the radio, so that part didn’t bother me, and it was easy enough to transfer my nav info between profiles.

I personally use CarPlay 100% of the time (via a wireless adapter). I appreciated the change in 14.0 that allowed us to use CarPlay in split screen so I don’t have to have it take up the whole screen. I like it because I can see my CarPlay audio info in 2/3 of the screen and can still see the Kia map in the other 1/3.

Because I exclusively use CarPlay, I didn’t ever really use the old home screen (nor do I use the new one that everyone is incensed about).

So again, it all depends on what you use and what you value. Make your own decision. Only you can decide. The info is there. Just don’t complain about it if you decide to upgrade… you knew what you were getting.

I love the new UI design it’s so much cleaner and reserved, the 3 panel was overkill for me.

I do feel like there’s significant lag from starting the car to having my Bluetooth audio play which is mildly annoying.

In the older design I was able to set my maps to always be in night mode. It wasn't exactly a on or off setting, I tweaked some of the other display settings to make it work. I can't exactly remember how I did it, but I've been trying to set that again since the new firmware and I cant figure it out.

Anyone able to figure this out?

Thanks

You are right, there used to be a daylight/night mode you could set to change automatically or manually control it. (settings example attached)

But now with the new updates, your only choices are display brightness and blue light filter. The mode probably changes based on the light sensor or headlights on/off settings. You could test this theory and see of the map changes the map display to night mode by switching your headlights to on or parking lights mode.

One less feature, it seems people want less features (not me) they're ok with less screens , less information or customization, I find that odd.

Less is more! Just kidding. In this case less is definitely less.

For me, the redesign of the interface resulted in a complete lack of trust for this software company. In fact, I don't even know who to blame because it seems that neither Mapnsoft nor Kia/Hyundai/Genesis wants to be accountable for this software and its design (which is telling).

This won't be improved in any meaningful way IMHO. The "petition" to bring back the 3-panel design has more posts than any other thread on their forum by a very large margin, and the feedback is one-sided. So to say that they didn't receive enough feedback is not exactly accurate.

Now I see what all the hub-bub is about. All I wanted was updated maps, I did get the map updates but the rest of the design is not what I wanted . . . You guys warned me.

I did he update a few days ago. It took over an hour. I do like the new interface. Seems a bit snappier as well. Everyone has their own opinion of this.

Where exactly do you find the version number? Thanks.
Easiest way is to go to setup > general > SW info/update.

Look for your map version.

Here are the corresponding map versions with release numbers:

14.0 (Apr 2020) NAM.13.41.42.660.202
14.5 (Aug 2020) NAM.13.47.44.680.201
14.10 (Nov 2020) NAM.13.47.50.610.201
15.0 (Apr 2021) NAM.14.41.43.490.301
