How does your phone charging pads work compared to using cables?

After 6 months, finally got my big T last week. One of the things I was most excited about was the phone charging pad, as I never had one before. I have used a few times now, and the charging seems much slower than using my type C cord - am I missing something here? What has everyone's experience been like? I would hate to have to cord up again.

The above response from @Bridge4 is correct. Don't get too excited. It works - but it's incredibly inefficient. And your phone will be very hot.

If you don't use the phone, or maybe just bluetooth, it can do a slight charge. But if you do gps or any other intensive use, it will still drain from what I have found. That isn't just the telluride too, it was the same in my 18' tacoma.

Charging pads are slower. I did find it useful when the one USB cable we had was being used for CarPlay and I couldn’t find a second cable to charge my phone.

I turned off the wireless charging pad as we've used it exactly once in 2 months. The setting is somewhere in Driver Settings (instrument cluster). Might be in Convenience section.
