• Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my SUV" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your leather interior, please post in the Interior section - and so on... Hey guys!
so I ordered my Telly yesterday - GWP SX AWD with towing package and butterscotch interior

I’ve been so excited but lately I’ve heard a lot of ppl downing the Kia brand in general saying they aren’t reliable and they don’t hold their value

I guess I’m just a little discouraged and looking for some insight and positivity about my decision!

I think you should be very excited! The Telluride is a great vehicle and so far they seem pretty reliable. There will always be a handful of lemons for every car that's made but there haven't been major widespread problems with the Telluride so far. As with any new purchase, make sure you do a thorough test drive of your car when it comes in just to be sure there's no immediate issues. As for holding value, you could probably turn around and sell your Telluride for a profit if you decide you don't like it after a few weeks. Until Telluride production ramps up to meet demand, I expect that Tellurides will continue to stay near the top in resale value for quite some time.

The main downside following your concerns seems to be that parts are in short supply and certain dealerships are not adequately staffed (or adequately trained) in their service department so repairs seem to be taking a very long time for some Telluride owners. The parts issue should work itself out over time. Hopefully you have a local dealership that has a good service department.

The new Telluride is a gamble for sure, as is any new car. I purchased the first year 2007 MDX and just traded it in with140K and no major issues. Again, its got a Honda heritage so its got some history. I will probably own my KT for another 2-3 years and move on, just the way I do things. The thoughts of all the electronics and software in new cars makes me think long term ownership will be challenging.

Yes it was super fast. We were very lucky to get it faster than any other order I've heard of on here.

@Tortuga07 you decided you now want the 2022MY or adding a 2nd one?

Does a Kia Forte hold its value? No. But neither does a Ford Focus or a Chevy Cruze. So is it true to say Chevys and Fords don't hold their value? No, their 3 row SUVs and pickups sure do. Three row SUVs are in right now and outside of maybe the Dodge Journey, everything holds pretty strong in the segment.

Mechanically, these seem to be holding up pretty well for a brand new model. The fit and finish seems to be the more widespread issue I see with the Telluride.

Switching to the 2022. Our current one is worth more than we paid (out the door). Seems like a once in a lifetime opportunity to bump up a year and erase the miles we've put on it (5k so far) for free. Plus my wife decided she likes the GWP better than Gravity Gray.

Besides being highly rated by many car review websites, the Telluride have also been rated reliable. Check out ConsumerReports, Kelly Blue Book, and JDPower websites.
