Wind Noise when towing

It seems to me that there’s a lot of wind noise when towing. Has anyone experienced that while towing?

We’re owners to 2020 SX, with aftermarket tow hitch. We had the car for about 3 weeks so it’s my first time towing with this vehicle. It was a 8x10 snowmobile trailer with 3 ATVs on it. Trailer weight maybe 2500 lbs tops. Haven’t checked for exact tongue weight, but my guess it would be about 250lbs.
The car did squat, about 1.5 inch.

When driving with trailer, it seemed like severe wind resonance or something (hard to explain). But it’s so loud that it made our 2 hr trip uncomfortable (it’s just hard on ears). Any ideas what it could be?

Empty or loaded trailer, noise is the same. Perhaps cars aerodynamics change with squat, or trailer interfering with air movement?
I don’t recall experiencing same thing with my other Vehicle when towing this trailer (Outback 3.6).

Any thoughts appreciated.

If you have cross bars and they are installed backwards, they cause wind noise at speed. Maybe the squat makes the noise worse?

I suppose it could be to the squat but it's weird that it's the same when empty. Did the noise go away once the trailer was detached? There was no noticeable noise increase when we towed a uhaul trailer weighing about 2000 lbs from Knoxville to Chicago. But, we have the tow package on ours so the vehicle self levels.

If you have cross bars and they are installed backwards, they cause wind noise at speed. Maybe the squat makes the noise worse?

I should have mentioned that we do have factory crossbars with a Rola roof basket. ( not mounted backwards) I had to shift them back a little when I mounted the roof basket. But it didn’t sound like it was coming from that. But I might be wrong, it was hard to pinpoint where it exactly the noise was coming from.

Even with empty trailer, the vehicle squats a tad bit (.5-.75 inch perhaps), so maybe that’s enough to alter aerodynamics of telluride.

I will try to tow different trailers with telluride (we have few different ones within family), to see ifs a persistent issue.

The roof basket + squat is probably the issue. Even well designed roof baskets can make a lot of noise at an off angle.

Wind noise driver window model s

I get an annoying wind noise above 45 mph on the driver side only, took it to dealer who drove it but thought it was turbulence from the exterior rather than a window sealing problem, any thoughts on figuring this out, I ran my finger along the seal and noise did not abate

I had a bag in my glovebox with instructions, key to pop the cover off and Allen Key. If you loosen up hex bolts, the bars could be moved along the rails.

The only thing in the glovebox were the keys and wrench :/ Thanks, though.

I would definitely remove the roof basket. With the squat, the geometry on the roof has changed. That is just a guess of course.
