• Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my SUV" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your leather interior, please post in the Interior section - and so on... Has anyone ordered a Telluride with the tow hitch with harness option without the leveling equipment. Cost is $475. I don't see any on failcat.

You would have to read every Monroney sticker to see if it was ordered. It is considered a minor option like lighting kit or crossbars. And to answer your question - Yes, many have ordered it that way.

I'll be ordering it like that here come Monday.

Is there a specific reason you’d prefer to tow without the self-leveling suspension?

They don't add any capability to the towing, are more expensive than regular shocks, and have been known to go out early.

Yes, I need this option for a bike rack.
Tangential question: How many bikes do you carry? Which rack do you have or are shopping for? I want to get something in a few months. Thx.

This is my favorite bike rack:

They aren't cheap, but are well made in the USA. They also grip the bikes using the wheels so the rack never touches any part of the frame (unless you have fenders on the wheels). I bought the two bike unit, with two add-ons for a total of four bikes. With that setup, you can use them as a two bike, three bike or a four bike rack. Have used them for years on my previous SUV and look forward to using them on my Telluride.

Long term bike guy/collector/rebuilder, the 1 UP rack is great, kind of speedy.

Don't get a "dangler" rack, one that attaches to the top tube. Can damage the bike, I've seen bikes on those racks go vertical when on the road, banging into each other. Gripping the bikes from the wheels is more secure, protects the bikes, and no damage.

@NorthEastAlex @NCBill -
Thx for the 1up recommendation! Their comparison chart is really helpful. I definitely want the cradle-type carriers because the kids’ mtn bikes can’t really travel by top tube. Not sure my mtb would either.

Went to a camping trip recently with 5 adults and gears, no towing. The rear sagged but leveled out after driving. I am glad I got the self-level rear shocks. Going skiing with skies and boots the rear will definitely sag more. If you have fwd the sagging doesn’t help with traction either.

I tried ordering mine that way in mid-June, Salesman called me the next day saying they could not input the order with the hitch/harness option. I told him to just delete it, and I'll add it on myself later. I also did not want the self leveling shocks because of the cost to replace them if they go out. I would imaging if you get a bad one 7 or 8 years down the road, Kia will treat it as a consumable like brake pads, and you'll be buying it on your own. My friend had one go out on his Ram pickup, and think he said it was $1200 for the one shock. Lucky for him it was only a year old, so it was covered. He also had the audio head unit replaced, and that would have cost $3500 if it wasn't covered.

I'll be interested to see if anyone can get one ordered this way anytime soon.

Can someone point to one in failcat? I have yet to see one.
They’re definitely being made, as has been shown in the last few posts.

Note that any LX or S with a tow hitch from the factory will have the “tow hitch.” Probably effectively 100% of EX and SX models will have the tow package (tow hitch plus self leveling suspension).

There are probably basically zero EX and SX models coming from the factory with the tow hitch only. And if there are any, good luck finding them, because you can’t search for it.

Another good example of why I avoid Fiat/Chrysler. A marriage of the worst US quality with the worst European quality.... I was really hoping when Chrysler was for sale that Toyota would buy them, mainly to get the Jeep product line, and infuse them with higher quality.

And if he has already had those high dollar replacements in year 1 (fortunately under warranty), you have to wonder how long the replacements will last (when it is no longer under warranty).
