If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my SUV" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your leather interior, please post in the Interior section - and so on... I am impatient and frustrated prospective buyer of 2022 Telluride in California like many others. Found this Forum in one of my google searches. Got to learn a lot about current hostile car market conditions for prospective buyers.

My Current car lease for Subaru outback ends in Dec-2021 [bad timing given shortage of cars]. I am looking for a 3 row SUV and came across multiple online rankings, with Tulluride topping the list in most of em. Was checking out Telluride when i learned that people are waiting for 6 months or more after they place their orders with dealers.

I went to local Kia showroom to do a test drive and i was more than impressed with a fully loaded Top of the trim Tulluride i got to test-drive. This dealer i went to , charges ~$10K for top trim in terms of market adjustment. I was considering to negotiate and buy it with some market adjustment if this dealer had interior and exterior colors that i wanted but he didn't.

Reason i was willing to pay Mark-up are as follow:

1- I need a three row SUV fast. Like within a couple of weeks at max. We are due for our third kid by end of the month.
2- I can make around $6K-$8K in profits if i sell my outback to Carvana/Shift/Vroom etc. I was considering to use this $6K-$8K towards paying the Mark-up for Telluride, If it meant i can get it quicker.

Please let me know if people are having to wait 6 months or more because they don't have Trim/Package/Color they want in stock or because they are not willing to pay the Mark-up [rightfully so, i wouldn't consider paying mark-up as well, until it meant i can get my car quicker from dealer Lot].

Is there any way, i can still get Telluride that i like quicker if i decide to pay mark-ups? I want SX AWD , Black Copper / Napa Gray, with Nightfall and Prestige package.

PS: I apologize if i offended anyone as i know people don't like to pay for extreme market adjustments. I am considering to pay market-adjustment as i need this SUV badly and asap and i am not even sure if i can get it quickly even after paying adjustments on top of MSRP.

Got a quote from Kia of Carson. They said they have one in stock but are quoting ~$13K above MSRP. I guess, price you pay if you want the keys in your hand in a day or two. Still not convinced though that i will pay this much over.

I’m also in the same local area and yes, the initial quote is very high. This means there’s negotiation on how low the dealer is willing to go down to and how high you are willing to accept. It’s a game of poker (not showing your short timing needs) and fishing. By fishing, I mean to negotiate the best deal and walk away if it’s not good enough. Be sure to leave name and number and see if they call you back later. If they call, that means there’s more negotiation. Last year Kia in Huntington Beach quotes started at $7K above MSRP. I ordered at MSRP in CO since son lives there.

When I was shopping for house, I found one that I like, but did not want to pay the already reduced price. I did not make offer, but later seller contact my agent with lower price. Moral of story is if Kia dealer calls you back, they are willing to negotiate some more because they do want to sell. Best to visit several dealers, don’t call. Parameters you set do make it tougher.

When I ordered from i25 (high volume CO dealer) they had a few available or soon to be available. A lot of CA buyers have purchased from them because of their price but they do have available or soon to be available inventory. You can fly and drive back or have it transported for $1,500.

Thanks for this information. I will try calling I-25 first thing tomorrow. from other post on this board, people recommended Nicole and Dumitru Pop. Will start with them.

Thanks for your response. Co-incidentally, i am also looking for SFH in bay area. Its a nightmare currently. Not uncommon for houses in good school district to get 10+ offers and go $250K above asking price. I would rather get Lamborghini Huracan Evo Spyder for $250k. lol.

I thought you were SoCal local when you mentioned Carson. I used to be bay area local many decades ago, still have families and friends there.

yeah, i tried Carson as they are one of the high volume dealers. Was thinking of taking a Greyhound to their dealership if they had car i wanted , not too much above MSRP [$3k or so]. but they are no different than local bay area Kia dealers with their market adjustments in initial quote.

Good luck with your future purchase (Telly and SFH). I’m a NorCal guy and the housing market is brutal.

Carson and Cerritos are probably the highest volume dealers in CA, over 1,100 each past 18 months. Check out failcat.com. With fancy filtering you can see stats for dealerships and stats for Telluride trims, options, and colors. VINs are shown on failcat before vehicles gets to dealers, so you can see what’s available unless it’s a customer order. Opportunity if someone
backs out. You can even see the vehicle sticker.

PS, i25 is high volume for CO

Brandon Paluszak is great too, he was the rep at i25 we were in contact with for our out of state order. Call or text 970.590.3829, or email brandon@i25kia.com.

I was put in touch with Dominic today morning when i called I-25 sales. He was really great. Was direct to the point, polite and informative.

He was able to get me booked for SX AWD with nightfall today at MSRP.

All and All, I-25 really seems to be exceeding all the praise they get on this forum.

They are. We’re ordering from >1,200mi away, paying for delivery, and are still paying less than we would at any dealer we reached out to here in OR, WA, CA, or NV. All of them were $3-20k over. Here in OR, “pre-owned” models are being bought from MSRP locations out of state with <50mi and selling for $63-70k, one 2020 model with >48,000mi is selling for $63k. Most dealers are marking up $8-20k here on new.

This. I-25 was also able to get me hooked up with one of their canceled pre-order from earlier this year. So I will receive my SX with preferred exterior but non-preffered interior color by early next month at Msrp.

Hi, if you are the San Jose area message me. I have a 2022 SX AWD Gravity Gray, Napa Gray, with Nightfall, Prestige, and Towing. I have a unique situation that might be a win win for us both. :)
