  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my SUV" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your leather interior, please post in the Interior section - and so on... Hi all,

New to the group and just sent my request for order to the dealer on Saturday. Sounds like it will take a few months, which is fine. I've read through quite a few groups and was very fortunate to find Peak Kia in Littleton, CO is taking order for Kia's at MSRP, which is well below the 8k+ dealerships are charging in NJ. If you're looking and willing to pay sticker, contact Peak Kia and Vickie Bell has been an absolute pleasure to work with. Very responsive, very kind, follows up every message with a phone call, sent information right away and got shipping costs within 24 hours. Now we wait for the order to be accepted and all the steps that follow. If anyone has experiences following up on orders placed out of state and with taking the Telluride on the beach, welcome any suggestions. Looking forward to actually having my own Telluride stories to share!

Why are you shipping a Telluride from CO when there are several dealers selling at sticker in PA?

Wasn't able to find sticker in PA at the time and some of the word of mouth sticker dealers I contacted in NY and CT were either charging addendum for out of state buyers or not returning messages and found some messages that said some in the midwest were not charging the markup. So that's were my search landed.

I found 3 dealers in PA mentioned on the forum for not charging a markup (Murray, Sussman and Abeloff).

Welcome aboard! And thank you for signing up. Congratulations on your brand new Telluride! What will the Telluride be replacing for you? I'm glad you found us. :)

Thank you! Just submitted my order and waiting for KFOS accept, so I’m a long ways out from being an official Telly owner. Currently driving a 2007 Suzuki XL7 which I’ve loved for 14 years. I tend to keep cars for a while so looking forward to the Telluride being in the family for a long time!

Welcome. Exciting times for purchasing a Telluride. Can you tell us more about the shipping procedure your salesperson gave you? Cost? I think your’s may be the longest distance order for MSRP.

Hello! I live in California and I have just placed an order via i25 Kia for a WG SXP. I am a bit worried about the shipping part though as after the car leaves the dealership, they are not responsible for any damages and I will be dealing with a transportation company which I don't have information about at this point. Could you share your experience with the shipping of your car? Did you go with enclosed shipping? Any dents or scratches when your received the vehicle? Thanks!

One way to remove some of the uncertainty is to choose your own shipper. Ideally the shipper should be working for you (contracted to you), and not someone else.

This sounds like a better plan to me as I would have more control. Apparently, they work with a broker which finds the transportation company and i25 does not have any control over what they choose.

Once the car arrives at the dealer, they’ll arrange for delivery. They quoted me $1,500 which seems in line with other transports I’ve see through other dealers like CarMax, AutoLenders etc. I saw a post on a different group of someone who bought from them and shipped to CA.

Hey there!
As my Telluride was approaching delivery time to the dealership, I began digging through the weeds of delivery. There are a few carriers that will handle directly, through their own fleet, but the majority of services are brokered. When I tried setting it up through i25, there seemed to be a struggle getting a commitment from the carriers they deal with. Hence, they would be calling the same numbers and contacts that I would be searching through - so, I decided to figure it out. After looking at the options and determining how much I wanted to spend, I decided on an open carrier, through a broker, in rush mode, on a smaller size flatbed. One added thing to keep in mind - the larger deliveries need a decent place to land. My neighborhood is not conducive to that, (hilly, short sharp turns and steep driveways) so I would have to meet up at the closest shopping center or "wide place on a main road". Not a big deal, just something to be aware of.
Hindsight - if I did it over again, I would pay the few hundred extra for the enclosed trailer and not worry about chopping off a day or two. Ideally, (as many will attest to) the better option would have been to make the road trip and pick it up myself, while making a small vacation out of it. That was the original plan, but family and work got in the way, so I needed to improvise fairly quickly.
Lastly, it all worked out. Came in a couple days early, dirty and apparently fine. BUT - I think I paid for it in the added stress factor. You also miss the greeting, the clean pickup and the walk around check. You have to put a part of this purchase on faith, if you do it this way. Not to profile, but a walk around inspection with a truck driver is a lot different than a dealer. Be assertive and detailed in your inspection.

Hope I can help paint the right picture for you!
Best of luck on whatever you choose!

Thanks a lot, this was very helpful! I think I should just go with the 3K markup that Modesto is asking. It will save me from all of the stress which comes with uncertainties of transportation.

Wow. That does sound high. Maybe that is a Cali thing? I think my cost was around 700-800 if I rem correctly, but would have been around 1200+ for the enclosed. Vague, but fairly close in that range. Best of luck.

Telly update, order was accepted yesterday and they quoted an end of December delivery! I know that's not set in stone but given that it was only a little over a month since order, I was so happy that the order made this month's cut. Now we wait for Failcat & window sticker. Also a quick update on the delivery, I found out my employer does quite a bit of car shipping with employee relocations and they are ok with having us contact their shipper directly if we pay them direct. Could save a couple hundred on the shipping and have the benefit of using a company that has very positive feedback and apparently they provide daily updates on the car progress. Estimated about a week to deliver from CO to NJ. Trying not to get too excited, but this would be a pretty awesome Christmas present if everything comes to together!
