2022 ex auto tailgate won’t close

The tailgate on my 2022 ex won’t close. It will open just fine but it will beep like it’s going down but won’t move. It does close manually but my wife can barely do that. Called the dealership and they never heard of this issue but stated it might be a new issue on 2022s. Please help!

I just got my 2022 EX last Friday and my tailgate opens and closes just fine. With the key fob and the dash button. Closes fine with the button on the hatch as well. The dealership definitely needs to fix this as its not normal for it to not close.

Have you tried the reset procedure?



Or try setting it to a new opening height (by pressing the lifgate button for more than 3 seconds) and see if that fixes anything. It’s possible somebody tried manually shutting the liftgate in the first place without your knowledge, and inadvertently messing with the opening height position.

It seems to have got off level between both auto shocks and by opening and closing it manually hard it seems to reset as now it’s working again an hour before my dealership appointment. I tried the above instructions with Kia without luck but I guess it seems to be fine now…fingers crossed

Having the same issue with mine. Bought in May 22. Just started happening in Nov 22. Calling dealer

Good luck! They found pinched wires and a shorted out module on mine. They thought it was the motorized struts and replaced those first.

came here because I just started having this same issue on my 2022 SX. the reset worked! saved a dealership visit. thank you!!
