2022 for MSRP in Michigan? (Or Northern OH or IN)

Talk to Alex or Darrick and ask them for MSRP. I think fewer and fewer dealerships will be selling at MSRP now, it's sad.
Also make sure you are talking with the Battle Creek dealership, the Kalamazoo dealership charges more than MSRP.

I was going to place an order this week in the Grand Rapids Mi area for and S model. However, after reading these posts I think I'll milk it out till the end of February when the post Christmas sales chill takes effect. It's only a car and nothings worth a penny over MSRP in my opinion. If the market for it hasn't cooled by then I'll continue waiting till the chip shortage ends, Kia gets production inline with demand or something better comes along.

If willing to try Northern Ohio. Call Tom Barrett at Preston Kia. They done multiple SXPs at MSRP for us and a bunch of neighbors. They don't sell above MSRP, period. If you call, tell him Roberto sent you from the forum.

Summit Place Kia East told me they charge $4,000 over MSRP today! Crazy to think anybody would pay that.

Serra Kia in Washington, MI told me today they never charge over MSRP.

Kia of Canton is charging an extra $3K over MSRP on EX AWD models right now, I was told today.

Ya, stay away from them. They were flat out rude as well on the phone, and email. Good luck to them when the market turns, because they've probably pissed off a lot of people with their attitude.

I was able to get MSRP on an S model in July from Canton. Glad Serra is MSRP.

Golling Kia in Madison Heights told me today they're charging a premium over MSRP of $2,000. They claim other dealers are asking $5-10K over, which isn't true in my experience in SE Michigan.

Went into Lafontaine Kia of Dearborn tonight because they told me they had and EX and an SX. I've been wanting to drive an EX before buying/ordering. Got there and no Tellys and they informed me they upcharge $5K over MSRP! That's the most I've seen in metro Detroit so far. I guess the guy at Golling was technically correct, HA! Anyway, thanks for wasting two hours of my time for nothing, Lafontaine!!

I think I'm just going to call Serra in the morning and order what I think we want.

Side note: why can't dealer websites accurately reflect their inventory in real time? I mean, that's super easy, yet it doesn't work that way for some reason. Why would they keep a database of their real inventory and then a fake database that they show on their website? I guess they are intentionally screwing with their customers???

I had the same experience with Feldman in Novi. Said they had "multiple Tellurides" and I could test drive one. Arrived there and they "just sold the last one". Yeah ok. Then tried to sell me on the Sportage. Nah.

I had contacted a bunch around the Detroit Metro...Summit, Feldman, Golling, Canton, Lafontaine, Glassman...all were some form of upcharge, ranging from 2-5k.

I ordered with Lucas at Kia of Muncie for MSRP (plus Costco discount) and should be picking up in a month or so. The three hour drive will be well worth the savings and hassle of s&*tty dealers.

Thanks for the tip. How do you use the Costco discount? Just mention you're a member when you talk to the dealer? This might be what I need to do!

Yes, if the dealer participates in the program you just have to mention you are a member and have a valid membership number.

Kia of Jackson is charging $1,500 over MSRP on Tellys. Seems like the further out you get from Detroit, the better the deal.

Lafontaine Kia of Ypsilanti flat out declined to discuss pricing until I came in to talk. Not falling for that game, of course. This is the email I got:

"Unfortunately that (charging over MSRP) is kind of an across the board thing. We get charged additional fees right now because of the chip shortage which is raising the price of the vehicles... I know its a huge inconvenience and frustrating : ( but we would still love to see what we can do for you. "

So I am assuming that since some dealers are really just charging MSRP that his line about "additional fees" they're being charged is pure BS. Don't deal with Lafontaine Kia of Ypsilanti unless you like being jerked around.

Jeffrey Kia in Roseville (north of Detroit) is claiming that they are selling at MSRP. However, they are including several add-ons. So, yeah, they're actually charging over MSRP! I followed up to get an exact cost for these BS add-ons and didn't get a reply. I would stay away from Jeffrey Kia. It's kind of amazing how some of these weasel stealers operate!

From Jeffrey Kia to my email:
"I am one of the managers here at Jeffrey Kia. Thank you for reaching out and your interest in a new Kia Telluride. We are currently selling the Kia Tellurides at MSRP. We are also adding one to two protection plans to each Telluride. These protection plans include paint and fabric protection, as well as theft aversion and reimbursement. These are added to each Telluride at time of delivery from the factory to the dealer. "

Contact any of the dealers in Michigan directly other than the 3 Summit Place locations in Metro Detroit and Grand Rapids. They will tell you everyone is selling over sticker and charge you an extra $3-5,000, which is not true. And, as of late June/early July GR would not let you hold one for $1,000. One would hit the lot and all the sales people would call their customers and the first person to show up with check in hand got it. Insanity!

I ended up purchasing the one we wanted from Tiffany at McDonald Kia in Saginaw. She was great to work with and that dealer knew exactly when it was loaded on a truck in Georgia and what day it would land on their lot. And it arrived 2 weeks earlier than the expected date.

I also had great, helpful interactions with Tom at Sierra Kia in Washington Twp (Macomb), Mike A. at Glassman in Southfield, and several salespeople at the Traverse City dealer.
Also, call the dealer directly. They should know what they have coming in over the next 4-8 weeks that is not listed in their online inventory. At the larger dealers, it seemed the internet manager (the one that handles email inquiries from their online listings) was the only one that had access to the future inventory and the sales people were left in the dark and could only see the ones in transit not on order for their dealership.
JRob, I took your advise and called Tiffany at McDonald Kia in Saginaw. She was very knowledgable and confirmed they sell at MSRP. I mentioned I got her name from someone at an online Telluride Forum. Sounds like when I place an order in a few weeks, you'll be getting a 'referral' check in the mail from her! Thanks for passing along her information.

Ordered from Lafontaine Kia in July. They have my order on the lot but are refusing to sell at the agreed upon MSRP. They are holding at the +$5k. I have reordered at another dealer that has a track record of delivering upon their commitment on selling at MSRP. Shady and sucks that I am now going to be close to a year to get my new vehicle. Lessons learned on my side too but I recommend to avoid.

Wow that’s awful!! I’m sorry that happened. Don’t stop talking about this, spread this news. These places run on word of mouth.

We bought from Golling in July and were lucky to get MSRP. All other dealerships were charging a premium, and looks like since the summer they’ve even gone up.

Sucks you need to wait longer but it’ll be worth it, it’s an awesome ride!

I'm not sure the "check is in the mail" but thanks for telling them you saw my post. They were great to work with and super helpful and communicative. We love our car so far. So looking forward to having AWD again when the snow starts sticking around.
