• Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my SUV" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your leather interior, please post in the Interior section - and so on... Any time I stop at a red light, the idle stop and go system turns on as expected. But then the engine starts back up anywhere from 15-30 seconds later, while I haven’t stopped pressing the brake. Is this supposed to happen?

No, its supposed to start when the brake is released; however, it works by vacuum and just slightly letting some pressure off the brake pedal will allow the engine to start.

You can expirement with it and see if you keep teh brake fully applied it should stay running and if you release pressure slowly the engine will start before the brakes are fully released.

If it doeset work that way you may have a vacuum leak...

It will turn back down if something like the ac is running and it needs to cool the cabin down based on your temperature.

I believe ISG will restart the engine to maintain passenger comfort or to run the alternator. That happens here in Texas a lot.

Thanks for the info. I tested it without the AC running, and it stayed off for 90+ seconds, only turning off the second I turned the AC back on.

Begs the question, who ever drives without the AC or Heat on? It’s so rare to have perfect weather outside

It really depends on the conditions. If you have your climate controls on but if they don't have to work very hard, the vehicle may remain off for longer periods.

I live outside Chicago, and if it isn't cold enough for the heater, and not hot enough for the air conditioner (usually above 85 or so), I always have my windows open, and most times my sunroof open also. Same reason some people ride motorcycles I guess. I like having the fresh air rushing around me. Thankfully the tunes in the Telly are loud enough to be able to do this. So, if it's between 65 and 85, my windows are open. When the wife is in either car with me it's another story however..........
