• Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my SUV" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your leather interior, please post in the Interior section - and so on... Hi Everyone,

At what stage does the VIN number get generated? Is it when they start to build the telluride?

or is it after the telluride has been built and then the VIN is assigned to it?

Thank you.

Early stages of it being built. On the "Paint In Date" a VIN is assigned.

Below is a build schedule. Gives a timeline of steps for being built and sent to dealership

When did you place your order with the dealership? I only placed mine on Sept 16th.
I'm a dealer just helping this community. Your wait time will be determined by how many orders are in queue before your order and how many the dealership you ordered from gets allocated each month.

Cool. so whenever I get the VIN it's when they started building it. I'm hoping maybe by next month I get it.

Thanks! I've always been curious about the order things are done when assembling a vehicle. So "Body In" is when they actually do the welding and production of the body. "Paint in" is just paint? And then "Trim" is all of the interior, lights, etc. When is the engine? Is that part of the "Body in"?

Seems like a pretty fast build.

If they build 500 per day they're not dilly-dallying around.
Oh wow didn't know it was that many. Wonder how they do that. Would love to see the process. Don't want mine to be built too fast and have problems, take your time with me kia lol
