• Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my SUV" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your leather interior, please post in the Interior section - and so on... Should either the Accessorides Remote Start Kit and/or the Shark Racing Proximity Smart Door Lock module be removed prior to taking the vehicle in for service?

Following for curiosity - I would imagine that it would make sense to disable the proximity lock
You can disable and later enable the proximity locking and unlocking function using the following procedures. You can disable if the car is to go for repairs, or you are going to wash the car.

  • Disable/enable by short pressing trunk button on the remote 3 times.

I left my Accessorides with takeover installed when I went in for my 1 year service. No eyebrows were raised.

Then again they didn’t even bother to look at my cabin air filter. Lazy techs.

I'm just worried about possible issues being that I'm having battery problems. I don't think either module is the culprit, but it might give them somewhere to point the blame.

I agree with @anomalist that I should at minimum disable the proximity lock/unlock.

Oh yes, if you have electrical issues, I would remove it prior to service. For routine maintenance visits, should not be an issue.

That's how I felt about it as well.

Do you know if anyone has had similar issues that have been linked back to either module? That was my wife's first question...is the remote start or proximity the culprit for the dead battery?

Also, after the Accessorides module has been removed and reinstalled, does it need to be reprogrammed again as per the initial instructions?

There is only one owner I am aware of that is experiencing an issue with the backup sensor since installing Accesorides. He thinks it might be related to the main harnesses plugged into the ECU involving. bent pin during install. Might not be related to your specific issue though.

I would not imagine the remote starter would cause excessive drain. But if you don’t drive your car more than half the week, or only for very short trips, I would recommend using a battery maintainer/charger. Since there are always onboard computers draining the battery, even without Accessorides installed. The ISG always staying off is usually the first sign I look for indicating the battery isn’t charging enough.

I imagine there might be some internal memory that would not require reprogramming once reinstalling. Haven’t actually tried myself yet though.
